You're Mischievous

Olivia's POV

Shayne moved at lightning speed between me and the hysterical woman, her extra long nails an inch from almost clawing my face off.

"You little bitch!" the woman screamed, still trying to get at me while Shayne held her back.

I was too shocked to move or react to the woman's hysteria. I just stood there with my eyes wide open.

"Kira, for God's sake, calm down!" Shayne ordered.

Judging by the desperate look of possession in the woman's frantic brown eyes, I instantly knew that she wasn't the only one that Shayne drove crazy.

Shayne had the ability to destroy a woman's demeanor. I just hoped that I wouldn't reach that level of desperation.

"No, baby, she's trying to steal you away from me!" she said, staying still for the first time.

To my utter disbelief, the woman started to cry. Her arms went around Shayne's shoulders, crashing her body against Shayne's solid one.

"Kira, no one's trying to steal anyone from anybody. Will you let go of me, please?" I couldn't see Shayne's face, but she sounded tired and irritated.

"No! Not until you tell me that you're here for me and only me, that you haven't moved on, that I'm still yours. Please."

My heart hurt a little for the woman. She sounded so upset and sorrowful and Shayne seemed completely unaffected.

Then my sympathy for her came down to about a zero when I saw her suddenly grab Shayne's face in her hands and smash her lips against Shayne's.

"Kira, stop it!" Shayne roared in exasperation. She peeled the woman's body away from her and held her at arms length.

Then as if a switch flipped in her, the woman suddenly looked calmer.

"You're right, I'm sorry. Where are my manners, who's this?" she sweetly said, pointing at me.

I raised my brows at the sudden attitude change, and I was sure that Shayne had the same feeling as me.

Is this bitch taking her meds?

I took the opportunity to properly size up . . . Kira.

She was fuller than me, especially at the chest, seriously, the little white cami she had on hardly covered her breasts.

I was at least a few inches taller than her, and I kind of hoped that was one of my advantages, if at all I had any.

Booty shorts, she was wearing booty shorts for heaven's sake. How was I going to compete with that?

Shayne must have been insane to leave someone who looked like her. Kira was a goddess compared to me.

What was I thinking?

And as though the waves of low self-esteem I was feeling reached Shayne, she turned around and reached for me with a certain stare in her devastating eyes.

It actually took my breath away. I'd never felt so wanted in my entire life.

"This is Olivia Ryans," she husked, pulling me close to her hot body.

I was very, very much aware of the hand that was pressed firmly against my lower back. I was also aware of the heat that gathered between my thighs.

How was it possible that a single look and touch could set me on fire like that?

"Hi, Olivia, I'm Kira. Shayne has told me all about you."

My eyes widened in surprise. "She has?"

"Kira..." Shayne warned.

"Yeah, she has. Just this morning, she told me how persistent you are in trying to get her into your bed. Trying to force a relationship that's never going to happen."

"What?" I murmured, looking up at Shayne, hardly noticing how my heart skipped a beat; and not the good kind of skipping.

She looked back down at me and looked genuinely surprised to find my eyes on her.

Her dark brows furrowed down as she started to chuckle humorlessly.

"Are you . . . you couldn't possibly . . . she's lying for Christ's sake, Olivia, can't you see that?"

I pushed myself out of her hold, and looked at Kira's honest face.

But I wasn't dumb, of course she was lying. She probably realized that 'crazy' wasn't going to work, so she'd decided to be strategic. I'd never hoped to be so right in my life.

Unfortunately for her, I was ahead of her plans.

But first, a little fun wouldn't hurt.

I put on quit a show of looking very pissed. "The only thing I can see is your lying, conniving and selfish self. I thought we were heading somewhere, but instead all this time you've been screwing someone else and falsifying my feelings for you."

Again, Shayne looked genuinely surprised that I believed Kira, and it sort of flattered me that she didn't think I was that dumb.

"Come on, Olivia. I'd never say that. If anything, I'm the one who wants a 'thing' between us."

Woah, I'd never heard her say that out loud.

"You do?" My previous plans to go with Kira's flow began to melt away.

Shayne blinked several times. "I thought that was obvious, Olivia."

"I guess I got confused. Last week you told me you didn't want to think about me anymore. That you wanted to clear things between us, so that I'm out of your head for good."

"You don't make it easy to forget you."

Heat travelled to my cheeks, and my eyes failed to look away from those gorgeous hazel ones.

Kira sighed in annoyance, cutting through the haze.

Stay focused, Olly.

I literally tore my gaze away from Shayne's and folded my arms over my chest.

"Still, I don't think she's lying. Just get the dumb keys and take me back to work."

"Yeah, Shayne, take her back to work," Kira said enthusiastically.

"Olivia, please listen to me," Shayne said, the undertones of annoyance around the edges of her voice.

"I'm done listening. You know what? Maybe I'll just take a cab, I don't wanna be persistent." I started to turn away, but Shayne grabbed my arm.

I tried not to look affected by her touch.

"No, I'll . . . uhm . . . I'll take you." She pressed her thumb and forefinger against the bridge of her nose and sighed in exasperation.

"Okay," I muttered.

Maybe it was time for the fun to be over. But one look at Kira and I knew that if she realized I didn't believe her, she'd try something else. And I wasn't too excited to see her next move.

In no time, Kira was handing Shayne the keys-a smug look imprinted on her face-and opening the garage door for us.

Shayne looked disappointed and defeated, and it bothered me so much. Maybe I shouldn't have done what I'd done. What if she wouldn't believe me when I tell her I believed every one of her wonderful words?

Me and Shayne got into the Jeep and drove away from Kira's house without a word.

As soon as we found ourselves in traffic, I turned to Shayne. A subtle scowl graced her beautiful face.

"I'm sure you have better things to look at rather than a lying, conniving and selfish person like me."

My heart couldn't help breaking, and I couldn't stop myself from reaching forward and placing my lips against her cheek.

I heard her take in a sharp breath.

Seating back down on my seat, I reached for the tattooed hand that rested on her thigh and held it in my hand.

I placed our hands in my lap and looked up at Shayne.

Her eyes were already on me, dark and questioning.

"I want a 'thing' between us too." I gave her my most suggestive smile and marvelled at watching her eyes glaze over with desire.

Her hand was already cutting the circulation in my smaller one.

"I thought you hated my guts," she husked darkly, her eyes wondering all over me, as though I was her next meal.

"I guess I forgot to mention that I was the head of my drama club in highschool," I whispered, moving closer to her.

The realization in her eyes was followed by relief, and more desire.

"You're mischievous, Olivia . . . that's so fucking hot."

Oh God, yes.

She let go of the stirring wheel and held my chin, tilting my face to her desired angle. Our lips were only a couple of inches apart.

"I need your lips on mine, Shayne," I said under my breath.

"So do I," she husked back.

Just when I thought I felt the breath of skin against my lips, a sudden bang sounded at my window.

Afraid for my life, all caution flew out of my system, and I found myself jumping into Shayne's lap, my back pressing against her door.

"Relax, beautiful, I think it's just an angry driver. I kind of forgot we were in traffic."

I looked at my window, only to see an angry ginger haired woman glaring at us through the closed window.

Shayne brought down the window and I was first to speak. "We're so sor..."

But I was interrupted.

"Why don't you guys suck off each other's faces when you're not on the road, huh? Some of us actually have places to be, unlike whoring around with our drivers."

"What did you just say?" I could hear the venom in Shayne's voice.

"I said I'm tired of seeing whores like your little girlfriend here ruining our society."

What was she even talking about?

As confused and bothered as I was about the woman's comment, I couldn't stand the death look in Shayne's eyes.

"Hey, let's just go." I placed my hand against her cheek and got her full attention.

"But she..."

"I'm fine, Shayne."

"Okay," she nodded her head and helped me get back on my seat.

"Finally!" the woman exclaimed and walked away to the car behind us.

Then I turned in my seat to look at the woman again. There was something about her.

"What's wrong?" Shayne asked.

"Nothing, I thought I saw something."

As the fog in my brain cleared from what almost happened between me and Shayne a minute ago, I began to think properly.

And then it clicked.

Oh my God.

It wasn't possible, it couldn't be. Not after so many years.

Not after we all thought she was dead.
