I see everyone turn and silence envelopes us. I also get curious and turn to its source, I inhale sharply as I see Esme walk towards us. She looks different and it is the first time I am noticing the change. It is so usual that the people we see day in, day out. We never notice those natural changes in them.

I expect her to come over but she briefly stops where Fiona and Athena are. Athena has her arms crossed and answers to their conversation with unease. I attempt to walk towards them and protect her.

"Don't" Noah stops me. "She can handle Esme." He says.

She is not like us, and Esme hates that about her.

Esme walks away again without even looking at my direction. She loves a good chase and she thinks that is what I will do. Through those time she hasn't bothered to call or text and i am sure she expects me to be the one to that. Even now, i bet she wants me to follow her. Yes, she apologized about the affair when i came to know of it. But, that is all she did and expected me to accept it and carrying on with life.

I did accept her betrayal, Mason's part is what i am yet to accept

"Why is she here?" Noah steps closer to ask.

I shake my head, "I don't know and I don't want to know."

Noah is the only person l spoke to when I first learned of her infidelity. It was hard because the person I could share such a problem with was the cause of the said problem.

"I fear women everyday."

"Anyone is capable of committing evil." I mutter to him as we proceed to where the girls are.

Athena looks at me and i notice how disoriented she seems, "We can leave." I speak without thinking.

She shakes her head, "No." She curtly declines.

I find everyone staring at us with a skeptical look but they don't dare utter a word. We all head towards the pool. Esme is seated with Senna. She has already changed into her swim suit. I take a step forward until i am next to Athena. Her mood has changed and i can tell that she would rather be anywhere else but she is stubborn to admit that. Until she is ready to leave, i will be next to her to assure her, in the midst of these strange people she has an ally.

The rest of the people go and join them while Athena and i are left standing and at a distance.

"Do you want to continue with our swimming lessons?" I ask her and i see her blush at the thought.

"I didn't bring anything to wear, maybe next time." She says and walks over to Fiona who is waving at her and i am compelled to join the rest of the group.

We chat for a while then Fiona and Noah exchange familiar looks before they announce that they are going to buy some snacks. Soon Remy follows and Lia pulls Athena with her. Senna also is forced to follow them and unfortunately i am left with Esme.

"What are you doing here?" I ask when i can no longer take the awkward silence.

"They were my friends first and foremost, and I'm allowed to miss them." She says it casually.

"Really? You don't even like them." I remind her.

"You think i am here for you?" She snides.

"No, but to piss Athena, yes." I say.

She laughs in a mocking manner, "You finally got her name right, who knew?" She scoffs.

She is right, whenever we had conversation regarding Mason i only referred her as ′Mason's Wife' and would tell Esme that her name was too hard to remember.

"You should go back to your lover." The words leave a bitter taste and painful ache in my chest as i speak.

"It was just a fling, i told you."

"I don't care."

"It is because of Athena. Have you slept with her in our home?"

I click annoyed and grip onto my phone, restraining myself from throwing it down. I seethe silently how easy it is for her that she yet to grasp the consequences of her actions. I open my mouth and shut it, words lost on me. Our home? And i realize that all her flaws i found cute or ignored are the main cause of why we are here today.

I search for any remorse within her, forcing myself to keep my expression calm and almost blank.

"Don't stare at me like." She says mildly troubled but not concerned, "You are not innocent, you pushed me."

My God! she has a talent of pushing all my buttons and i opt for silence. She is no longer worth my words or reaction. It is her actions that pained me, i will not allow her to do that again.

I look around, i don't remember the direction Athena took with Lia. I want us to leave. I text her and wait for response as Esme also turns her focus on her phone. Curiosity strikes, and memories flood my mind of when she would be on her phone for hours with Mason, and i wonder if it is the case now.

"I forgive you," I say slowly.

"What?" I know that she knows what I mean, but did not expect it from me.

"I said I forgive you." i repeat it.

She suddenly stands, "I have to go." She states and grabs her things leaving me puzzled by her sudden behavior.
