Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 13

Mary sat on the bed and stared at him for a while before undressing. She went to shower and John had started snoring before she came back. She touched him and tried seducing him but he revolted.

“Why this John, I came home early because of you, why are you now ignoring me?” She lamented.

He gestured with his hand that expressed he did not want anything that would disturb his sleep. This got Mary confused..

“How could an horny man suddenly change and reject sexual approach” she brooded.

She stood and headed to Aina’s room, it wasn’t locked, she went in and met her sleeping, she touched her body, it was wet.

She left and went straight into the sitting room, she checked everywhere thoroughly like someone having a routine check. She saw the bottle of alcohol under the chair, she picked it and looked at it quizzically.

“What happened in this house?, I saw my husband coming out of the bathroom claiming he was feeling hot. Aina’s body is wet, now a bottle of alcohol. ” She demonstrated with her hand as she thought.

She sat on the chair and noticed her hand was sticky with the leather chair. She rubbed her fingers together to feel the texture of the slippery sticky substance. It was strange to her, she snuffed it and the odour was familiar.

John had spilled all over the chair when he was rushing to leave the sitting room when he heard Mary knocking.

Mary was fully convinced after connecting dots. Her head went on flame, she got flared and headed to Aina’s room with the bottle of wine in her hand. She rushed into her room and yelled.

“Aina get up!” She exclaimed.

Aina seems to be in expectation of what just happened because she knew she had no time to clear the mess she created all over the house. She jumped up from the bed and stared at Mary with the bottle of whine in her hand.

“What is this doing in the sitting room, did you bring this out for my husband to drink?” She yelled.

Aina couldn’t say a word, she started crying.

Her tears softened Mary’s bone, she dropped the bottle and crawled to meet her on the bed. She caressed her and wiped her tears.

“I’m sorry I yelled at you, did he rape you? What did he do to you? Did he get drunk? Did you have sex with him?” She threw numerous questions at her. She continued to cry.

“I know John did this because I denied him of sex, I am going to meet him to give him my piece of mind” she said and stood up. Aina drew her back.

“No please” she pleaded.

“No Aina, I want to know why he did this to you” she exclaimed and left for their room, she met John sitting at the edge of the bed.

“John! I know what you did, I suspected you, you think you can outsmart me, no you can’t” she yelled.

“Calm down please, i can explain what happened” he pleaded but Mary took it off resolution, she shouted and rained insults on him. John became sad and confused.

She zoomed out of the room again and left for Aina’s room. She apologised to her on behalf of her husband and promised to make it up to her.

“Should I sleep with you tonight?” She asked.

“No, I want to be alone.” Aina replied. She left her and went back to the room.

John paced the room, he held Mary’s hand as she walked in angrily. ” Let me explain Mary, I didn’t cause it, she did, believe me.” he said.

She hissed and ignored him.

In the morning, the rustling sound from Aina’s room got her attention. She opened the door and saw her packing her belongings.

She went in and looked at her confusingly.

“What is going on Aina, where are you going to?” She quizzed.

“I am going back home.” she replied.

Mary pleaded to her and apologised for what might have transpired between her and her husband but Aina had made up her mind.

PRESENT DAY.

“You won’t die if you go and check on Ephraim you know?” Said Ginika.

Aina ignored her, she concentrated on the clothes she was folding.

Ginika continued.

” I think you need to settle anything that is in between you and Nurse Nwosu, you can’t keep running away from your shadow, settle it once and for all and find peace ” she said.

Aina paused the folding and heaved a deep breathe.

“You know what? Let’s go now, you are right, there is a lot I need to say so that I can ease myself of this burden I have been carrying for years. We’ll move in an hour” she said.

There was a bit of excitement in Ginika’s mind

One hour later, they took their leave to the hospital, Aina’s heartbeat raced as they approached the hospital, Ginika noticed her reaction, she held her hand and gave her a look of assurance.

They got to the hospital and went straight to the ward. Aina Suddenly heard her name, the voice was familiar, she stood in shock and turned slowly. It was Nurse Nwosu.

She walked briskly to Aina and hugged her tight. Aina couldn’t hug back, she was surprised and paranoid at the same time.

“How have you been? Where have you been? You look prettier and bigger, I miss you” she said.

The guilt in Aina’s heart wouldn’t let her move freely with her, she looked reserved.

“I have something to tell you.” said Aina.

Nurse Nwosu became curious, she took her straight to her office, Ginika followed them. They were about to enter the building when John showed up from one of the wards, his eyes and Aina’s met, she threw her face away. John watched her as she walked with his wife.

He became confused.

Nurse Nwosu offered her a seat.

“What is it Aina?” She quizzed.

Aina locked her fingers and rubbed them together, a reaction as a result of anxiety and fear. She looked into Ginika’s eyes, she gave her a confident gaze of assurance.

“I want to tell you about what happened that night” Aina said in a shaky voice.

Nurse Nwosu laughed.

“I know what happened already, so what else did you want to tell me? ” she exclaimed.

Aina was surprised.

“You know already?” She asked.

“Yes I know, I know he forced himself on you, he is such a dog, I regret marrying him but I have accepted him as my cross” she ranted.

Aina looked down.

“That is not what happened ma, I want to tell you the truth” said Aina.

Nurse Nwosu readjusted on her seat and paid attention.

“What happened?” She quizzed.

“After you left my room that night, I thought it was a chance I have been looking for, i didnt know it would be that night until you told me your husband was horny and he wanted sex but you were not in the mood to have sex with him,that was why you decided leave the house” she said.

Nurse Nwosu wasn’t feeling comfortable having Ginika around.

Good

“Can she excuse us?” She inquired.

“No, she stays, I need her here” Aina replied.

She continued and explained everything that happened afterwards. Nurse Nwosu fury, she blurted in anger.

“You slot! You slept with my husband? You got him drunk and slept with him? I vindicated you and blamed him for years for what he didn’t do, you are an ingrate, I took you away from the slum you and your mother were living and gave you a better life but you couldn’t keep the hole in between your legs closed but ruined my home with it, you will suffer for this” she exclaimed loudly.

Ginika stared at Aina, she was stunned, she covered her mouth with her hands in surprise.

“Ah, Aina, you slept with her husband? Why? She helped you into her home and that was how you could repay her?” She quizzed.

Aina shed tears.

“I am sorry” she cried but Nurse Nwosu wasn’t taking it fair with her, she rained insults and curses on her and promised she would not go free without suffering for her iniquities.

The drama attracted Dr John’s attention, her husband. A nurse had rushed to his office to call his attention to what was going on in his wife’s office, he rushed down and met Mary shouting.

“What is going on here? Why the noise, you should know better Mary, this is a hospital, you shouldn’t allow anything make you raise your voice like this” he said.

Mary didn’t stop, it was too much for Aina to consume, she couldn’t take it anymore, she suddenly blew it up.

” Enough Mary!” She exclaimed and left everyone in awe.

She continued.

“Wow, you think you are the only one that can talk? You think I don’t have enough to say? I love to do this, I am happy your husband is here, you should have left me in the slum with my mother, at least my soul won’t be destroyed. You disguised to be helpful not knowing you had an hidden agenda, you introduced me to lesbianism, chased my boyfriend away and used me the way you want, you destroyed my soul Mary, did you tell my mother you would turn me to your sex toy? ( she laughed sarcastically) of course not, but you hid under the pretence of Godmother”

Ginika and Dr John left their mouth opened as she poured out. Mary hid her face under shame. She wallowed on the chair.

“What? Mary, is she telling the truth?” John quizzed but she became voiceless.

Aina continued.

” I knew she had destroyed my life already, I couldn’t do without masturbating when I was horny, atimes I go for cucumber or anything that could satisfy me but I wasn’t satisfied and that was why I looked for loopholes to get her husband, and I did. You denied him of sex but i made him crawl into my arms like an infant craving for breastfeeding, I gave him the best sex he would ever have, It was the best I ever had too and if I have the opportunity again, I won’t hesitate” she exclaimed

Nurse Nwosu swallowed hard, she wished the ground would open and swallow her. Ginika was the only stranger amidst them, she slowly walked out of the office.

Aina continued.

” You ruined your home yourself, I didn’t, having sex with your husband was a payback and I didnt regret doing it, I have cleared my mind, you two can now deal with it”

she said and walked out of the office. She met Ginika where she stood, she ran into her arms and hugged her.

“Thanks for giving me the courage to express myself, I feel relieved, it’s as if a heavy load was lifted off me, thank you Ginika” she said and hugged her again.

“I am sorry you went through all that, I pray you find peace within yourself” said Ginika.

Aina thanked her and appreaciated her for encouraging and staying by her.
