“Hello who is on the line?”. Elizabeth Ajayi rubbed her eyes sleepily as she placed the phone on her ear.

“Can you step out of your house for a second?”. The voice called out calmly.

She sat up on the bed and looked out of the window. A man was standing outside. She grabbed her gun from her shelf and hid it in her underwear then she rushed out to meet him.

The man walked towards her. He gave her a book.

She flipped through the pages and gasped at the sight of the contents. “Slush funds of politicians?”.

He shrugged. “If a man has the mind to make his daughter in low barren, he doesn’t deserve to sit on the throne of Lagos state”.

She was getting more confused. “What man?”.

“Your friend’s father in law. Solve the equation”. He turned to leave.

“Er…excuse me?please what is your name?”

He didn’t respond.

She watched him disappear.

(Scene Two)

“Come over to my study room right now!!!”. He fired at Ufeoma and disconnected the line.

In twenty minutes, Ufeoma appeared in the house and walked into his study room. “What happened?”.

“My green book! You took it!!!”. He fired at her..

“Why will I bring it all the way over here in the first place if I had the intention of taking it back?”.

“If I don’t find it in two days time, I will expose all about you and you will have no chance of marrying my son”.

“All about me? How can you think that you will ever implicate me without implicating yourself?”

He fumed at her. “Are you threatening me right now?”.

She shrugged. “You can call it whatever you like but please, ask your insiders and stop blaming me for everything!!!”. She fired at him and walked out of the room.

She walked down the stairs of the Adedejis house.

“Ufeoma”. She heard someone call her name from behind.

She turned.

It was Mrs Adedeji, Bayo’s mother.

“This is the third time I have seen you enter my husband’s study room at night. But today, I heard the last statement you told my husband”.

“What last statement?”. Ufeoma stuttered.

“Who were the insiders that you were referring to and what was my husband blaming you for?”.

Dorcas appeared beside her mother and fumed at Ufeoma. “Mother, Ufeoma is not what you think. Ufeoma is a devil”.

Ufeoma’s heart was beating so fast as she remained on that spot watching Dorcas.

It was obvious that Dorcas had eavesdropped on her conversation with chief Adedeji.
