Was chief Adedeji only using me?

I had to really find out for myself.

I dialled his number.

He connected. “Hello?”.

“Sir, I just need someone to talk to. Can you spare some time tomorrow?”.

“Talk to you? When did I become your talking buddy? You are a youth, you should have friends. I will call you when I get a word from my men concerning the election dealings”. He disconnected the line.

She fumed.

All these while she had not realized it.

How could she have thought that he regarded her as a daughter?

She was just his puppet.

He was just like her father.

She dialled Elizabeth Ajayi’s number.

“Hello?what step do I take starting from now on?”.

“Two things Adewale Adedeji doesn’t joke with. His company and his reputation. I heard that Bayo loves you. The only way that his daughter will not be able to steal your position from you is when you climb a higher position that controls her”.

“How do I get that higher position that controls his daughter’s position?”.

“Who is the heir to the company?”.

“Bayo Adedeji”.

“Is Bayo Adedeji’s future wife the second in command of the company or not?”.

Ada gasped.

She finally realized what Elizabeth Ajayi was insinuating.

Ada sat right there in her office, typing until she noticed Bayo walk into his office.

She rose to her feet and walked to knock on the door of his office.

She walked into the office when she heard his response.

He looked very surprised to see her. It was the first time that she was entering into his office.

He rose to his feet and cleared his throat. “Er…Ada, I am sorry about yesterday. I shouldn’t have intruded in your privacy”.

“You didn’t intrude”. She smiled and touched his cheek. “You are just a very innocent man”.

“Innocent? Really?”.

“Yes. Unlike your father”. She whispered and watched him closely.

“My father?”.

Tears filled her eyes. “I am scared, Bayo. Your father hurts me in the dark but I have been so scared all these while that was why I was unable to open up to you”. She revealed her bruised neck which she had caused herself so that she would be able to implicate chief Adedeji. “Your father did this to me”.

He gasped. “Are you serious?”.

“Please don’t tell him any of this. Including the murder incident with Daniel which I didn’t succeed in”.

“Why is my father treating you that way?”.

“He just wants to use and dump me”.

“But I can just walk up to him and stop him from doing all these. Why are you stopping me from doing all that?”.

“The only way that you can stop him is by making me your woman. That way, he will respect me”.

He gasped. “Are you for real? You will agree to be my woman?”.

She cleared her throat. “Yesterday, you kept me company and I was glad in my heart that I had someone to talk to”.

There was a knock at the door.

It was his secretary, Tonia.

She walked in. “Sir, someone is here to meet you. Her name is Elizabeth Ajayi”.

Elizabeth Ajayi walked in almost immediately from behind Tonia. She gasped at the sight of Ada. “Oh my God! Is this your fiancee? She looks so beautiful. Hope I didn’t come at the wrong time?”.

Bayo sighed uneasily. “Er…not at all ma’am. Please come in”.

“Goodday ma’am”. Ada greeted her formally.

“You look like a CEO’s wife. So elegant”.

“Not at all ma”.

“I can hear wedding bells ringing somewhere”. She giggled and sat on one of the vacant seats in his office.

After Bayo’s business discussions with Elizabeth Ajayi, he walked into Ada’s office and grabbed her hand.

He held her hand and walked out of the organization, ignoring the gaze of his workers.

His father was discussing outside the organization with Elizabeth Ajayi when he walked in with Ada. “Father, can you suspend the business discussion for two minutes?”.

“Can’t it wait?”. Chief Adedeji fired at him.

“It is fine sir”. Elizabeth said softly and faced Bayo. “I can spare you the two minutes”.

Bayo glared at his father. “I love Ada. I want her to be my woman. I want her to be my wife”.
