"And then what happened?" It was Emma on the other line.

I was laying in my bed, I just came from school. Officially, my punishment is over today but with respect to my parents, I chose not to go today to see Emma.

They actually want me to invite her tomorrow for dinner here at our place.

So I called her and told her that they know already about us.

She was nervous and panicking, I could hear from the other line that she was breathing funny as well as her footsteps indicating that she was pacing.

"Hey." I interrupted her as I know she was overthinking the dinner tomorrow.

"You'll be okay. They are okay with us. There's nothing to worry about, I promise." Trying to assure her.

She blew air from the other line.

"Okay. Okay. I'll be there tomorrow night. But, can I see you before dinner?"

"Umm, I guess I can come over, but I cannot stay long, my Mom will be home all day, cooking for you." I teased her, trying to ease the tension she was feeling.

"Yeah, that's fine. I just wanted to see you. I missed you."

"I missed you too, Em."

The next day when I woke up, my Mom was out of the house but she left a note in the fridge.

Going to the market, for dinner later. There's food inside. Mom.

It's 11 in the morning. I was not hungry yet so I decided to head over to my neighbor.

I knocked three times before Emma opens it.

She didn't say a word like she knows it was me and it surprised me when she pulled me inside, closed the door behind me and snaked her arms around my waist, and kissed me.

As much as I want it to go somewhere else, I stopped the kiss.

"Em... Em."

"What? What?"

She was about to cup my face and kiss me again but I caught her hands.

"My Mom could be at home any minute and I want to be there once she's back." I explained to her.

That pulled her back to her senses.

"Ohh, yeah. Of course."

"I missed you too, Em. I miss kissing you, but let's hold out for a little bit longer, okay?"

Wow, I can't believe I'm saying this. I'm the teenager, I should be the one with shooting hormones.

She nodded at me.

"Come here." She gestured for me to follow her into the bedroom.

Once we were inside, there were clothes that were lying on her bed.

"What is this?" I asked her confused. Is she throwing all these? These are still good.

"I don't know what to wear later. Help me pick which one is appropriate for meeting-the-parents-dinner."

I looked at her dumbfounded. What is she talking about? It's not a dinner party of some sort. It's just dinner... With my parents.

Okay, I got her. I suddenly saw myself doing the same if the time will come her parents will accept us and be invited to dinner with them.

I leaned over to the clothes that were on the bed. Browsing one by one.

"Hmm, just casual I think is okay."

"You think? I don't need you to think, Jennifer, I need you to know."

I pulled back up.

"Hey! What are you full naming me for?"

Her panicky face softened.

"I'm sorry! I'm nervous, Jen. I've never done the meet-the-parents part."

I pulled her into me and embraced her.

"You've met my Mom already, Em. She likes you, you know that."

She hugged me back and rested her face in the nook of my neck.

"I know, but I've never met your Dad. What if he doesn't like me? You told me he did not approve of your sleepovers here before. I was the adult, I should know better. What if..."

"Shhhhhh..." I pushed her a little bit.

She was really nervous, her eyes gave her away.

"He will love you like how my Mom loves you, okay?" I cupped her face before kissing her.

She seems to calm down as soon as my lips envelop hers. Her hands are on my neck while mine traveled down her hips.

As much as I wanted to lay her on the bed and continue, I need to go home before my Mom do.

"Emma..." I pulled my face away from her. Our noses are touching each other.

She smiled.

"I know."

I peck her on the lips before completely pulling away.

"You'll be okay, Emma. Don't overthink too much, okay? I love you."

I was about to walk toward the door when Emma pull me by the hand, my body landed on hers and she peck me on the lips too.

"I love you too."

My Dad and I were in the living room watching the news while my Mom was in the kitchen. She was about to finish and didn't need my help so I joined my Dad.

Knock!

Dad and I looked at each other when we heard the knock on the door.

I stood up ahead of him to open the door.

As I opened it, Emma came to view.

She was wearing a casual plain dress, an army green color. She pulled her hair up so her neck was exposed.

I seem to swallow a big lump in my throat staring at her smooth neck. My mouth watered a little bit.

"Are you gonna let her in, honey?" I heard my Dad say from inside.

Emma pressed her lips together to prevent her from laughing.

"Come in."

You look gorgeous! I mouthed at her before she completely went inside.

"Good evening, Sir. My name is Emma." Emma extended her hand.

My Dad smiled at her sweetly and took her hand and shook it.

"You're too formal, Emma. Call me Ross. Please have a seat. Carol is finishing up in the kitchen, you want to have something to drink? Jennifer get her some juice or water or wine, what do you want dear?"

Emma sat on the couch while I sat near my Dad.

"Dad slow down." I whispered to my Dad. He seems excited about meeting Emma and I know it puts Emma to be at ease a bit.

"That's fine, Ross. My house is literally three steps from here, I had water before I came here."

My Dad laughed at what she said, too hysterical for my liking.

What is happening to him?

"Ohh, it's funny. She's funny, I like her, Jen." I gawk at him.

Already?

Not that I'm complaining, but he didn't have a long conversation with her yet and he likes her already.

Oh, anyway.

"Table is ready." My Mom yelled.
