Emma calms down after several minutes. We were watching each other silently, she sat on the stool beside me.

"Em..." I called on her. She turned her face to me but didn't say anything.

"My Sister is waiting for me on the couch, I don't want to leave, believe me. But I'm grounded and she's doing me a favor by making sure our parents won't know I left the house."

"You're grounded?"

"Yeah, for a month."

"A month??? What did you do?"

"Well, you remember when you saw me in the parking lot?"

"Yeah?"

"Uhm, as you know, I was drunk and... I drove. And my parents found out so... Anyway, I'm allowed to drink but not drink and drive."

Emma seem to reminisce that night.

"If I were your parents, I would probably do the same. What were you thinking drinking and driving? You could've gotten hurt, I hope you know that."

"I know that, but I was... hurting" I searched for her eyes but she averted hers.

"So you planned on killing yourself then?" She said and finally met my eyes.

"What? No. I guess, I was just not thinking at the time and also, I needed to get away from that party."

Emma is now staring at me intently, trying to read me, I guess.

"What party?"

"Ohh, Umm. It was a teenager's party and... I got invited." I shift in my seat a little bit feeling suddenly uncomfortable.

"Uhuh... Whose party?" Emma's eyes are squinting again.

"Em, I really need to go." I tried to change the topic, maybe it'll save me from my pending death.

"Hmm... Do you remember two of your buttons were undone that night? How that happened?"

Oh my God!

I had completely forgotten about that, about Kate. what she did, what we did. For the past two weeks, my mind was occupied by Emma only and my heartache.

How could she still remember that?

I looked around her place, intending to avoid the conversation.

"That's what I thought!" Emma blurted.

A few moments passed, and I still couldn't look into Emma's eyes.

I shouldn't be guilty, I felt abandoned at the time, I was losing my mind thinking that she has a boyfriend and all. I tried to reach out to her but what did I get? She completely ignored me.

And in all honesty, it was her fault that I was at that party.

Yes, I am justifying my actions. So what?

"Go, Jen. I'll see you tomorrow." She got up from the stool and gathered the bottles of beer and threw them in the bin.

"Umm, Emma. I'm still grounded, I still have 10 days. I'm not sure if I'll be able to sneak out after Anne leaves. She'll be here only for the weekends."

She was dazed for a few seconds before speaking again.

"I'll... I'll find a way. We still need to talk. I prefer now but, you said your Sister is waiting for you."

Right. We haven't done the 'talk' yet.

I left her apartment and hurried to go to ours.

As soon as I open the door, Anne got up from the couch and sat.
