My girl Neighbour -S01 E19

Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 19

"Honey, is your phone working?"

I was lying in the couch, flipping the channels, trying to look for something to watch and divert my mind from thinking to the girl next door and what happened yesterday when we saw each other outside.

It's already 7 o'clock in the evening, I wonder if she came home already, or is she out for a date?

Just thinking about it made my heart ache.

"Jen, honey are you alright?" I didn't notice that my Mom was already sitting beside me.

Worried across her eyes while her hands touches mine.

"I'm-I'm fine Mom. I just didn't hear you, that's all" I looked away as I am afraid that she will caught me lying.

"Are you sure?"

"hmm-mm."

She was about the stand up when she turns to me again, "I asked you if your phone is working."

Mentioning that, I couldn't remember where is it.

I had it the other day, I remember coz I was trying to build the strength to send an sms to Emma but every time I'm starting to type a word, my phone ended up being thrown somewhere in my room.

And now I can't remember where it is.

"Well..?"

"I actually don't know, Mom."

Confuse written all over her face, I think she wanted to laugh but she's weighing herself if it's appropriate or not, knowing that I wasn't in my best self the past few days.

"Well, I just asked because I ran in to Emma this morning and she asked about you, I think she tried to call you or send you a message."

My Mom was still talking, explaining why she didn't hear clearly what Emma was telling her this morning but my mind was already occupied by what I heard from her.

Emma asked about me!

She called me or she sent me a message or whatever, she asked about me!

I left my Mom and ran towards my room, it's rude I know. She's still talking but I need to find my freaking phone.

I need to see if Emma send me something or called me.

When I reached my room, I realized that I haven't cleaned it in 3 days.

Some dirty clothes are in the floor, my bed is a mess, and my study table is full of empty bag of chips and bottled juice.

I was heartbroken for 3 days and I can't recognize my room anymore.

I started looking in my bed. It wasn't there.

Underneath, not there.

In the table where all my mess are, not there too.

I wanted to shout at my phone and ask it where it is.

Where the hell is my phone?

I went inside the bathroom to look there as well.

And to my surprise, it was in the sink.

Thinking how it ended there was not my concern, opening it was.

My battery was empty, it must have been off since last night and I didn't even care.

I hurried back to my room and charged it.

"c'mon! c'mon! Open up"

As soon as it signaled that it is charging, I press the switch button to turn it on.

Why is it opening so slowly? Like it's torturing me or something.

My eyes lit up and my lips formed a smile when I see my phone opening up.

I waited for a minute and felt my phone buzzed.

4 messages I received.

First message came from Kate.

Hey, what's up?

I ignored it and open the next one.

We need to talk. It was from Emma.

Third message. - Jen?

Fourth messaged was a missed call from Emma.

I think I'm hyperventilating, she wanted to talk to me!

I checked the time of the message, it was 9:30 in the evening last night. It was the time after I saw her outside.

She wanted to talk to me! And I don't even know what to tell her. And she's probably thinking that I ignored her because I didn't reply to her.

Should I write back?

Or should I just go to her place?

But what if she's out for the night?

I think I should write back.

I can't believe I'm talking to myself like this.

I started typing to my phone and hoping at the same time that she's at home.

Hi Emma, sorry my phone was dead last night. Can I come over tonight?

I press sent and prayed that she'd reply fast before I think of the worst scenarios why she's not replying to me.

I am fidgeting while waiting for her text. Why it's taking so long for her to reply?

Should I call her? No, I shouldn't. I don't want to sound desperate, though I am, but still.

I sat on my bed and put my phone on the table. I stared on my own mess.

I need to clean my room before my Mom sees it and disown me.

I was starting to drown in my own thoughts why Emma hasn't replied yet when all of a sudden, my phone vibrated.

Picked up my phone and open it.

Come over.
