Storming out of Nathan’s office, Caleb whose heart was pounding so fast from confronting Nathan, leaned his back on the wall and heaved a sigh of relief.

“Ugh! my heart almost exploded in there. I can’t believe I boldly told Nathan to his face that I desire his wife. Like, where the hell did such nerves come from?” He asked grabbing his chest with his heart pounding faster.

Then walking back to his office, he pulled out his phone and dialled Daniella’s number.

“Hello,” Daniella greeted as soon as she picked up the call.

“Hi, Daniella. I just finished speaking with Nathan” Caleb said rubbing his forehead.

“Really? I can’t believe he gave you a listening ear. So, what did he say? How did it go? Did he promise to change?” Daniella impatiently asked.

“Well, what we had was more of a confrontation than a discussion,” Caleb said reaching for his seat.

“What! Caleb, what exactly did you say to him? why did you confront him? Don’t you think confronting him would worsen the issue? For Christ’s sake, you know how sensitive Nathan is” Daniella lamented.

“Relax Daniella. Relax. There’s no cause for alarm. As a matter of fact, if Nathan has sense, then the things I said to him are enough to influence him to change” Caleb said.

“Caleb, I just hope you didn’t say anything to trigger him. Because I’m really scared” Daniella said with fear in her heart.

“Don’t worry Daniella. I believe he will change if he is wise enough. But for now, I want you to focus on yourself. Take good care of yourself. Because the Nathan that is giving you sleepless nights is doing exceedingly great without giving a damn about you. I know and understand that he is your husband, and of course, you love him so much. But please, I think it’s best you learn to overlook some of his nonchalant attitudes and actions. Otherwise, you might end up dying before your time. And when that happens, he won’t think it twice to replace you with another woman. I hope you understand?” Caleb asked.

Then with tears welling up in her eyes, Daniella nodded.

“Yes, I understand,” Daniella said trying so hard to prevent tears from falling from her eyes.

“Look Daniella, I know it won’t be easy. But I think things have gotten to the point where you need to start living for yourself. You need to go out there, live your life and catch some fun. And I think it’s best you quit being a housewife and try getting a job for yourself. You know, something to keep you busy. Busy enough to forget about Nathan and his unchanging ways. And don’t forget. I can be of help if you need a little distraction. And you can always count on me if you ever need a shoulder to lean on” Caleb said.
