But with anger, Daniella hit his hand off and stormed out of the room slamming the door behind her.

She found her way to the living room where she broke into uncontrollable tears.

And after that day, Nathan kept trying to persuade his wife to forgive him but all his attempts and pleas fell on deaf ears. And after a whole week of pleading, Daniella finally gave in.

“Why did you do it?” She asked in a calm tone staring at Nathan who was avoiding her gaze in shame. While sitting opposite her in the living room.

“Because I was scared of losing you. What woman would like to stay with an infertile man? Of what use is he to her?” Nathan asked with his head bowed in guilt.

“It seems like you’ve suddenly forgotten the vow we made before God on the day of our wedding. Nathan, we both vowed to be together for better and for worse. In health and sickness. So what excuse would I have to leave you if you had opened up to me before now? You vowed to be true to me in sickness and in health. You vowed to be my truest friend. You pledged your honesty to me. You vowed to make me your most loyal confidant and friend. Yet, you kept your ailment from me for five whole years. What a wonderful husband you are Nathan” Daniella fumed with tears.

“Look Daniella, I know I have failed you. I know I did you extremely wrong. But I hope that you finally find a place in your heart to forgive me. I have always been tempted to tell you but I just couldn’t bring myself to do so. Believe me, it wasn’t easy for me to watch you cry yourself to sleep every night because of our childlessness. Your grief and sorrow caused me nothing but pain and guilt. And believe me, I have tried everything humanly and Medically possible to restore my fertility but all to no avail. And at this point, I doubt if I will ever get healed” Nathan said.

“Stop saying that Nathan. You know what? From now on, we will focus on getting you treated all over again. I believe something good will come out of it” Daniella said.

“I’m not trying to sound negative. But just in case our attempts fail to yield a positive result, then I would like us to use another alternative” Nathan said.

“Which is?” Daniella asked.

“Getting another man to get you pregnant” Nathan revealed.

“What!” Daniella exclaimed standing to her feet. “Did you just hear yourself talk?” She asked in disbelief.

“Yes, Daniella. I have spoken to Caleb about it and he has agreed to help get you pregnant” Nathan said.

Hearing this, Daniella walked up to him and slapped him hard on his cheek. Then pointing at him, she fumed,

“Nathan this is the height of it! Listen, I can take everything from you but definitely not you asking me to break my marital vow by letting another man have carnal knowledge of me. That won’t happen in a million years. And just so you know, I will rather adopt a child than bear a child for another man in my husband’s house!” Daniella fumed.

But her anger immediately subsided the moment Nathan went to his knees with tears.

“And, what are you doing?” She asked staring confusedly at him.

“I would have opted for adoption but what would people say when they find out that we adopted a child? Do you really want to see me drop dead before you understand the height of pain and grief I am going through? All I want is to see you get pregnant and have a child of your own” Nathan said amidst tears.

“Nathan, seriously? Not minding who the father of the child is?” Daniella asked.

“That won’t be a problem as long as the father is Caleb. And that’s because I trust him to keep my secret more than any other man out there” Nathan said.

“But still Nathan, this is wrong,” Daniella said.

“I know honey. But as it stands now, this is our only way out. Especially if our attempt at treatment fails” Nathan said.

“Hmmm!” Daniella sighed deeply. Then helping him up, she embraced him.

“I’m not letting any man touch me. And for that reason, we will both work hard in restoring your fertility” Daniella said.
