Forbidden desire - S01 E06

(Back at Caleb’s house)

Caleb returned home that night with lots of confusing thoughts running through his head. He dragged his feet into his living room and quietly sat on his couch with his head buried in his palms.

A few moments later, his fiancee Alice walked up to him from behind and asked,

“Hey babe, when did you return? And why are you here all by yourself instead of being in the bedroom?” Alice asked walking up to him.

Hearing her voice, Caleb quickly snapped out of his thoughts and turned to her wearing a reluctant smile.

“Are you just coming back?” Alice asked finally sitting next to him.

Then with an affirmative nod, Caleb responded in a calm tone.

“Yeah,” he said.

Then gently squeezing her hand, he asked,

“Why are you still awake?”

“How do you expect me to go to sleep knowing that my baby is not yet back?” She said resting her head on his shoulder.

Then pulling her cheek, Caleb said,

“What a caring babe I have”

“Can their baby ever?” Alice said bursting into laughter.

Then sitting upright, she asked.

“So, why did Nathan call you out this late at night? I hope all is well with him?” Alice asked.

Then rubbing his forehead, Caleb responded.

“Yeah, all is well with him. He just wanted to take my advice on some stuff” Caleb lied.

“Oh, Okay,” Alice said.

Then with a scoff, Caleb leaned in and pressed a kiss on her forehead.

“I love you,” He said rubbing her cheek and staring steadily into her eyes with sadness.

“I love you too,” Alice responded blushing effortlessly.

Then standing to her feet, she began pulling his hand.

“Now come let’s go get some sleep,” Alice said pulling his hand.

“Alright,” Caleb said standing to his feet.

And as soon as he stood up, he carried Alice in his arms like a baby. And with laughter, they both returned to their bedroom.

But all through the night, Caleb couldn’t bring himself to sleep.

He kept turning from one side of the bed to the other with the thoughts of Nathan’s request ringing in his head.
