And I being a Leader and a ruler of this city have made a lot of sacrifices for the greater good and progress of this city… And most of this sacrifices end up in blood…

For generations.. Marida has been a city of progress and stability… We were always on top.. We were unrivaled and unmatched.. For generations Many have tried to conquer this city but they’ve all failed… The people had enjoyed an undisturbed peace thanks to the sacrifice made by my ancestors….

The reason behind this Marida’s progress is only known by me the sultan and a mystic sage Salim whose family has sworn to serve the throne for generations to come. His ancestors have also served under my ancestors as well..

As I was saying, there is a dark secret behind the progress of Marida… Out this city, there is a cave well hidden by the desert storm and in that cave, there is powerful entity or rather god.. Her name is Laila… Nobody knows her origin or how long she’s lived… She claims to be the goddess of lust, power and deception… For generations.. She has been the reason behind the success and progress of Marida, in return all she wanted as payment was to spend a night with the heir and ruler of Marida and she wants 100 virgins female, I later found out that she eats their hearts and livers and bathes in their blood in order to keep her youthful form…

This practice has been going on for generations even long before I was born.. Everyone thought it was a miracle.. My ancestor came back a few days after that, he didn’t tell anyone what he did except the current sage at the time about his ordeal thinking he had made the right choice not knowing he had made his descendants slave to this evil being. No one dared refuse Laila because no one knew what she was capable of yet… So to avoid causing any chaos, we continued paying tribute to Laila… I was deeply saddened about this bloody sacrifice.. Every year, hundreds of girls lose their lives just to keep this city standing… As far as I’m concerned, I’m not happy with the way things are… The poor are the major and populated ones in the city and life here is so expensive that almost all of them sell themselves to become slaves and the rich here take and do what ever they want… This isn’t progress at all..

And to make things worst my sons are nothing like me… All they care about is living the pleasures of life, that’s all… I fear for this city…
