Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 19
After that, Marian and I took off walking side by side. As we strolled down the streets, we were silent at first but I managed to start up a conversation, but the only problem was I was the only one talking.
It’s not like she wasn’t interested in the conversation or ignoring me, I realized that she wasn’t used to this sort of thing which was walking shoulder to shoulder with a White man ; there was an aura of nervousness all around her and for that I had to understand her situation.
But as I gradually pressed on, she began to nod and give short answers at the questions I threw at her eventually.
.
Peter So do you have any relatives or family?
..
Marian Only my brother.
.
Peter What happened to your parents?
.
Marian They were killed during WW1.
.
Peter I’m sorry.. So does your brother live here?
..
Marian Yes.
.
Peter What does he do?
.
Marian He harvests honey!
.
Peter Honey?
.
Marian Yes.., we both work for the same person.
.
Peter Oh.. That’s nice. So where do you work?
.
Marian Mr. Williamson’s bee farm.
.
Peter Ahh… That Scottish fellow! Yes.. I used to hear about his products. I heard that he passed away?
..
Marian Yes.
.
Peter May his soul rest in peace.
.
Marian Amen.
.
Everything was going smoothly for a while but then we got interrupted by a dirty looking constable. I’ve seen many ugly black folks but this man here is the ugliest, he was no different from the monkeys kept in cages in the London zoo.
After he interrupted us, he turned his attention towards Marian and began to speak in a native dialect. I had no idea what was going on but judging on the despised look on Marian’s face, I know this dirty pig was a trouble maker.
