Sitting down in front of her dressing mirror, Elizabeth stares at herself anxiously taking a good look at the dress she wore. Putting on the dress wasn’t the thing that was eating her mind but the fact that she was lured into a date was the thing that bothered her ; Not only was her date is negro but he was also her servant/employee.

Elizabeth confined in herself and came to the conclusion that Luan had pulled a fast one on her but then again which lady could resist going out with a charming young man like Luan.

Although she was thinking about canceling the date, Elizabeth knew deep down in her heart that she wanted this date but her moral compass was beginning to click inside her mind. Elizabeth had no intention on cheating on her husband despite his uncaring nature but on a second thought it’s not like she was going to sleep with Luan at the end of it , she was just going on a mutual date with him and this outing meant nothing.

After concluding that her date with Luan was just friendly one, Elizabeth calmed her nerves down and continued dressing herself but while she was doing that, she began to have another different thought this whole affair.

There’s nothing that turns a woman on especially when man complements or praises her looks, it makes her feel special and wanted but most importantly, it makes a woman feel loved. It’s been years since her marriage when Elizabeth got a complement from anyone especially a man, not even her husband had shown any interest in her looks but every since She met Luan, Elizabeth’s life had taken a great turn.

Hearing Luan complement her looks and seeing him treat her so nicely made Elizabeth feel somewhat special, she never cared what people thought about her but ever since Luan began showering her with sweet praising words, Elizabeth began to see herself in a new light ; every now and then she would look at herself in the mirror and wonder what her African servant saw in her. She never thought of her as a symbol of attraction cause even the black men that were crazy obsessed about White women weren’t giving her a second look, even back when she was in Scotland, Elizabeth wasn’t successful with attracting male attention unlike her friends that were very good at it.

But then she realized this was all her fault cause when she was a teenager, she was a busy person and she never had time to enjoy her youth the way she was supposed to and now that she was 30 years of age, She was curious to know what Luan saw in her ; It took her a while to realize that her servant had fallen for her and this date had confirmed her suspicions but nevertheless she didn’t really care. In fact, it was really nice to have someone admire her so much in a way nobody has ever done before, Although she didn’t express her feelings for Luan, Elizabeth decided to enjoy this fling while it lasts.
