“Aunty I hope this is not a poison?”

“How will I give him a poison, trust me please, just do it the way I ask you to do it, once the task is accomplished I will give you another #20,000”

“Thank you ma”, she knelt to appreciate her

“You call me once the task is accomplished”

“Ah I don’t have a phone ma”

“Hmmm so what do we do now, ok have this” she gave her one of her phones

“Thank you ma” she leaped cheerfully

“I will be leaving now, please call me and give me the feedback,” Mercy said and left.

Dara woke up as early as possible the following morning, she rushed to Nelson’s house but he was not around. “Good morning Aunty Keji, what of your husband?”

“He left for work” Keji answered faintly

“Wow, so early” she mumbled

“Dara we can’t cook today, I’m so strong, just help me check on our debtors.”

“Ok ma, take good care of yourself” she left and came back again in the night.

“Aunty Keji”, she called

“Dara is that you, come inside”

“How is your health ma? Is your husband back from work?”

“He’s not back oh, is the one I’m waiting for, his food is getting cold” she pointed at the food on the table “He said they have an emergency at work.” Dara began to think of how she will get to the food before Keji noticed her phone “Dara what’s that in your hand?”

“Is my phone”

“Let me see” she collected it and began to check the pictures on it, she shouted as she sighted Clara’s picture on the phone “who is this, is this not Clara? where did you see this phone, Dara?”

“I…I..” She began to stammer “Is one aunty that gave it to me” Nelson walked in. Keji narrated what happened to him, she showed him the phone.

“Who gave it to you” Nelson yelled at her

“Is one aunty she said I should put this thing in your food” she brought out the powder

“Dara somebody gave you this to kill me and you accept it,” Keji said tearfully and slumped. Nelson rushed her quickly to the hospital, where she was confirmed pregnant. Nelson shouted happily, hugging his wife at every interval.

“Please madam should not do anything stressful or engage in a fight” the Doctor warned

“Thank you Doctor” they left the hospital

“Avoid that girl called Dara I don’t want to see her in our house again,” Nelson told her on their way back home

“How about my cooking business, because of my health I can’t be inhaling smoke and how will I lift heavy coolers on my head, let’s forgive her dear”

“I won’t say yes” Nelson concluded.

Mercy and Clara were so nervous waiting for Dara to call them. “if she did not call, I think we should call her instead” Clara suggested. Mercy dialed the number.

“Put it in loud speaker,” Clara said.

Keji picked up “hello madam, I’m so glad to tell you your charm did not work” she ended the call.

“What!” Both of them exclaimed in anger “So this girl played me. I will kill her” Mercy said furiously

“Is not up to that now” Clara begged

“Clara you know me you know I don’t take nonsense. I will kill her, and that is what I will do she made a fool of me”

Dara knelt before Nelson, Keji and her grandmother “I’m sorry ma, I will not do that again”

“Dara, you collect such thing without informing me” her grandmother cried. “That is how you would have killed this family, they take you like their own. It exactly 19 years since your mother traveled to Liberia, without looking back, she dropped you at 6month Dara, since then have been taking care of you, now you want to put me in trouble” she cried

Dara ran to her and wipe her tears “Mama I’m sorry, forgive me I will not do that again”

“Dara has been a good girl, we forgive her,” Nelson said.

Her grandma’s face brightened up, She prayed for the family.

Mercy and Clara we’re working on another plan to get back at Nelson and his wife. “Mercy I think I’m pregnant,” Clara said.

“That’s not new, if you are keeping it then is new”

“I’m keeping it”

“Goodnews!, who is the lucky man”

“Nelson of course”

“What! you guys have any intimacy”

“Yes the first day I went there”

“And we are here disturbing ourselves on plans to get him, this is a good one, text him immediately”

Nelson and Keji were having a good time when the message reflected on his phone. He opened his mouth in awe after reading.

“What is that” Keji collected the phone and read “No this cannot be happening. Clara is lying she’s not pregnant, is barely three weeks now”

“What if she’s not lying,” Nelson asked

“You answer that yourself, you caused this” she cried. Nelson took his phone

“What are you doing,” Keji asked curiously.

Nelson called Clara “if I’m truly the father of the child you are carrying, come over and stay in peace another man cannot father my child”

“What is the meaning of that Nelson, you want her to come and stay with us, you know I’m pregnant too”

“What did you expect me to tell her; she should abort it” He flared up.
