“My name is Clara” she answered rinsing her hands in a basin, “and why am here… I think we should discuss that after eating”

“Go ahead” Keji answered pointing at the food.

With excitement, Clara drew the table to herself, adjusting her dress, she ate hungrily licking her fingers at every interval “you are a good cook, this meat, is it antelope?” She asked mockingly.

“No is Hyena”, Keji answered and hissed.

Clara cleaned her mouth, robbing her hands thoroughly on her body. “My rival, thanks for the wonderful meal?”

“You called me your rival, is that a joke, or something”

“I’m not here for such argument please” she gave her a document

Keji flared up immediately, “who the hell are you? this is not true, this can never be true”, she flung the document.

“Lady, I don’t mean to hurt you”

“Get out of my house!” Keji exclaimed.

Clara carried her handbag, and drop the document on the table, “tell your husband to do the needful” she stood up and walked towards the door.

“Please come!” Keji called tearfully, “Why? Why did you want to destroy my home, Nelson will not hide this kind of thing from me”.

“Come off it, Nelson is not the man you think he is, he’s just hiding under religion I’m not here to ruin your home. Your husband only needs to sign this, and I’m done with him. But this, I’m seeing, will make the issue more complicated” she pointed at their traditional wedding photo hung on the war “except he is ready for restitution”.

“Restitution? In what way”

“Nelson is an adult who knows right from wrong, if I may ask how long have you been with him?”

“This month make it the eight-month”

Clara laughed, “the exact month he was transferred here.

Do you work in the same office as him?

“No, I’m a food vendor”

“Food vendor?”, She raised her eyeball, “that’s a good one”

“Yes but have not been doing that for some weeks now”.

There was silence in the room “Nelson, will not hide all these from me, God where have I missed it, forgive me. I was so blind by his love, I didn’t even pray when he approached me. I didn’t seek your face before I said yes, give me the wisdom to handle this? She thought soberly.

Clara broke the silence “please I don’t like the mood I’m seeing you, cheer up, if you will need to prepare super, please do, it is getting late”.

Keji left the room angrily to her backyard weeping uncontrollably, Dara walked up to her. Dara was her neighbor, she lived with her grandmother and always assist Keji in her food vending business.

“Auty Keji, good evening ma what happened why are you crying,” she asked with so much concern

Keji wiped her tears, “I’m fine Dara”

“Ma you are not, I met you crying”

“It’s nothing to worry about my dear, Go back home is late, you can check on me tomorrow”

Keji and Clara sat outside waiting for Nelson. He showed up a few hours after, walking staggeringly. Keji became weak seeing him in such a state. “God this is not what I prayed for” She lamented, Clara was just jesting.

“How many people are mine seeing,” Nelson asked speaking gibberish “we are just two”. Clara replied.

He drew Clara to himself and gave her a deep kiss. Keji retaliated by hitting Clara, “he kissed you, and you respond, can’t you see he’s drunk? Is this part of your reason for coming here?” she asked furiously.

“What if he’s trying to make things right” Clara answered, she held Nelson by the hand to the room, shutting the door against Keji.

Keji sat helplessly on the floor after banging the door severally and no response. Two vigilantes walked up to her,

“Hey woman, what are you doing outside by this time”

“This is my house, they locked me outside” her voice shivered.

The vigilantes whispered a few words to themselves.
