Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 9

(On reaching Onitsha in the late evening hours of past 7pm, Chizi took Obiageli and Ebere and went straight to the Cathedral knowing fully well that any minute, Maame Queen might strike again and she was determination to make sure her little niece was delivered)

Father Nonso; (an advanced Priest was seeing praying at the altar of the church) ….have mercy upon us and bring us success..

Chizi; (on sighting him) Ahhh Father Nonso? Father Nonso?

Father Nonso; (was just finishing his prayers) Ahh! Sister Chizi? Is that you? I thought you travelled? I was around your area on assignment today and your family told me you travelled two days ago and might take upto two weeks before you return…when did you then arrive?

Chizi; Just now Father and this is my sister and my niece, Ebere.

Obiageli; Good evening Sir!

Father Nonso; Good evening ma. How do you do? Your baby is ……(Maame Queen suddenly appears) i rebuke you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

(Obiageli and Chizi were speechless and left to wonder who he was referring to)

Chizi; Father Nonso? Please who are you taking to?

Father Nonso; (looks at her and ask) are you with your Rosary?

Chizi; Yes Father (but still clearly not understanding why he asked)

Father Nonso; Take your sister and her baby to the Altar and pray the Rosary for our weapons of warfare are not carnal.

(Immediately sensing what was happening, Chizi practically dragged her sister and Ebere to the Altar, told Obiageli to close her eyes too and she started praying the rosary).

Father Nonso; i come against you, you doer of evil…

Maame Queen; You have what is mine!

Father Nonso; and what might that be?

Maame Queen; My daughter, Ogbanje!

Father Nonso; She was once your daughter but now she is in the house of the Lord and from now on she has become God’s property! You lost all rights to her the moment she entered her Father’s house, this church!

Maame Queen; No!!! That can never happen, she is meant to come back to me a full week from now!

Father Nonso;(laughs at her) surely you recognise that you are in God’s Presence, the mighty Deliverer, The one who sent his son to die for you and I so we might gain eternal life…I will give you one more chance to bow and repent to God your maker or else you shall face the wrath of God’s anger

Maame Queen; you can’t harm me!!! (She starts making incantations against God’s anointed priest but it all came to naught)

Father Nonso (points the Holy Cross at her untill she kneels in surrender to Gods Supremacy) From today Onwards your powers will be useless untill you accept God and be saved from your evil deeds! (He moves to sprinkle holy water on her as she screams in anguish)

(Suddenly Ebere begins to cry loudly, crying like a tormented person which was quite serious for her age and size, the rosary around her neck began to shine brightly and her screams grew wild!!!)

Obiageli; (who had her eyes open all this while, was in deep shock) My God!!!

Chizi; (who was praying, pause but continue praying, this time with her hand on baby Ebere)

Father Nonso;(who has subdued the powers of Maame Queen, left her in her weakened state to attend to baby Ebere) every foul spirit that won’t allow you to stay on earth and become useful vessel of Honour unto God your Father, I cast out of your body this minute and return such spirit back to the pit of hell in Jesus Might name! Amen!

Obiageli and Chizi; Amen!!!

Father Nonso ;(gives Ebere some of the Holy water to drink and she coughs out blood, Obiageli was so scared, so Chizi collected the baby from her while Father Nonso continued giving her the water untill her system was purged clean of whatever evil that had possessed her) Thank you gracious Father for saving a new life! Sister Chizi please what is your sisters name?

Chizi; Obiageli, Father.

Father Nonso; Sister Obiageli you are welcome to Christ the King Parish under the Holy Catholic Church.

Obiageli; Thank you, Father( mimicking Chizi’s use of the word “Father”)

Father Nonso; Sister Obiageli, with all that you have witnessed, would you still hold back your life from God?

Obiageli; No Father Nonso, I would like to be serving this your God!!

Father Nonso; (leads her to salvation) Halleluyah! One more soul is saved!!

Chizi; Praise be to God!

Obiageli; (repeating Chizi’s words) Praise be to God!

(Light fades out on them)
