(Narrator; 7 days after Obiageli gave birth to her beautiful daughter which she named “Eberechukwu”, the people of Ohafia decided there was no need to gather for a naming ceremony of a child that might not live pass 6 months..)

(At the Nwonodi’s compound)

Elder 1; We have gathered together in honour of our brother’s invitation to be present at his new child’s naming….(sighs deeply)…Odogwu oya take the floor…

Odogwu; Thank you my elder Onochie, May the Gods of Our land bless you mightily…My kinsmen, as you all know of the recent development in my family..(shakes head and takes on a gloomy look)… I am still happy that the gods have looked upon us (Obiageli and myself) with kind eyes and given us another star….LET HER NAME BE EBERECHUKWU…for everytime we call her Mercy…The gods will mercifully keep her with us, Iseeee..

Obiageli;(who was holding little Ebere smiled to herself)

The Elders in general; Iseeee!

Elder 2; Obiageli biko stand up and bing refreshments…our elders are we not hungry?(he asked trying to gain agreement from the others elders present)

The Elders in general; Yes we agree..

(So Obiageli’s sisters and her mother helped in sharing the food to the few family people present)

LATER THAT NIGHT….

Obiageli; (wakes up screaming)….Noooooooooooo!!!!

Odogwu; Nwanyi Oma, Ogini?

Obiageli;(still speechless, turns slowly to look at her husband with tears falling from her eyes) They want to take her away from me(she starts crying again)

Odogwu; (holds and comforts her..whispering re-assurances to her to calm her down)

(Light fades slowly on them)

(Narrator; Hmmm her dream? She dreamt about dragging Ebere with Maame Queen…To me, it seems like Obiageli is determined to keep Ebere…But how far can she go to keep her precious Ebere?)
