Paint Me Red

We sat in silence. One cubicle, with two guys just gazing at each other. Each waiting for the other to begin.

" Look Gabriel...I shouldn't have reacted the way I did this morning..." Alexander scratched the back of his neck nervously.

" I haven't been very honest with you, and you have all the right to be mad at me." Guilt hit me hard upon hearing his words, I haven't been honest either.

I shouldn't have scooped information from Kara. Twindling my fingers, I mumble out with caution.

" Urm..Xander..I might have made a visit to Kara recently." His eyes widened, his lips slightly apart.

Alexander sighed, like as though he couldn't hold it all in anymore. I decided to reach my hand across the table, entwining my fingers in his.

" What's holding you back Alex? Why won't you tell me?" I dipped my head lower so that his eyes would meet mine. I hated seeing his honey eyes become so dark and empty.

" I-I want you to love me for who I am now, not the mistakes I made before. I never felt this way towards a guy, Gabriel . And the truth is, I'm so so afraid of losing you because you're the best thing that has happened to me." He had a way with his words that could make feel ever so loved.

A small smile played on my lips. Standing up, I walked over to his side, taking his hand in mine.

" Then show me Alexander." I tilted his chin upwards, " Show me all the things you love to do, show me the person you are now. Cause all I want is to have all of you, to love every inch of you."

His face instantly lit up, biting his lower lip, he stood up.

" God, I could just kiss you right now."

" Well that has to wait cause I want to see everything you like by the end of the night." I laughed as I dragged him out of the diner towards my car. 1

Alexander sat at the driver's seat, pressing the button that made the car's deck contract. Stepping on the accelerator, we drove off at great speeds with the wind threading through our hair.

Throwing my hands in the air, I let out a bubble of giggles as the wind tickled my neck. Alexander turned up the music as we raced towards the sunset.

" So give me a hint of at least what I should be expecting.." I awaited in excitement.

" I never told you this but I like art too, it's just a slightly different from your preppy paintbrushes." His words piqued my interest.

" So you're an art nerd too." I teased.

" Far from that actually, I like to bend the rules a bit." I found it extremely sexy the way his eyes glint with mischief, the way he bit his lip ever so subtly.

I looked away to hide the burning sensation on my cheeks. We came to an abrupt halt, near a run down house. I noticed that we were around the outskirts if our town, most of land filled with sand.

" This was my house when I was young." He walked ahead into the house.

" Did you have any siblings?"

" I had an elder brother....my whole family died in a fire." His voice was void of emotion, I on the other hand, didn't know what to say. I was afraid of opening up old wounds, but afterall I did wanted to understand him better.

" If you don't mind me asking, how did it happen?"

" I was 11 years old when it happened. We were on a family vacation at the nearby family farm. On that night, a fire broke out, probably from a lit cigarette. My elder brother, Aiden, brought me to safety, far from the barn. He then ran back into the farm house to help my parents who were somehow trapped."

He sucked in a deep breath. I took his hands in mine to steady his breathing. Alexander stared into my eyes, his eyes were once more hollow, filled with regret.

" My dad had asthma and my mum couldn't rush out of the fire fast enough because of her spine injury years before that. Aiden...didn't make it out alive. None of them did and I was left standing there watching the farm collaspe into ashes. I was such a coward. Maybe if I grew a pair, I could have still had my family with me...it's all my fault."

He pinched the bridge of his nose, holding back his tears. I knew that no words of mine could take back his family so I did what I felt he needed.

I wrapped my arms around him, pulling him into a hug.

" You were 11 years old Alex, trust me when I say that your family will always be by your side, watching you from above." He tightened his grip around me, his breathing slows down.

Pulling away slowly, he glanced back to the house. " That's why this house holds a special place in my heart. It was where I grew up, where I grew up with the best family I could ever ask for."

Leaning in his shoulder, I rubbed his back in a comforting manner.

" My family took you in afterwards right?"

He nodded, with a sad smile.

" I'll always be grateful for that Gabriel."

I liked how his eyes could express how sincere his words were, I could fall in love with his eyes over and over again.

I scanned my surroundings, tearing my eyes away from his. The sun seemed to setting perfectly at the end of the road ahead.

" Come on, there are two more places I want to show you." 1

I managed to lift his spirits through our long drive by singing our hearts out. It was 7 p.m. by the time we reached his second spot --- a tall lighthouse by the ship yard.

" From the way youre smiling, I'm guessing you like lighthouses?" Alexander asked while he pulled out a backpack.

I glanced sheepishly at him, " Don't judge me but I have never been to a lighthouse." 22

He raised an eyebrow with a crooked grin on his lips.

" Well then I'm glad to be here on your first." Alexander ruffled my hair before racing me up to the foot of the lighthouse.

We ran up a spiralled staircase that nearly made me faint after sprinting up in circles. My hands fell to my knees the moment I reached the top of the lighthouse. Panting breathlessly, I let my head hang low.

" Gabriel, look up." Alexander bent down to my eye level, pulling me up to my two feet. With his hands on my shoulder, he turned me around slowly.

The moment my eyes met the interior of the lighthouse, I was at the loss of words. I couldn't form a simple sentence.

The interior before me was simply beautiful, strange but breathtaking.

The walls were spray painted with unique designs, the colours ranging from all sorts. Each stroke of spray seemed so natural, without planning. It was just sprayed out of instinct and feeling, very much different from what I learnt in the Art academy.

" Xander... I-I don't know what to say..this is just so beautiful...I-I.." he placed his finger on my lips, stopping me from stuttering any further.

" Don't speak, just spray paint it all out." He passed me a bottle of green spray paint.

Alexander brought me towards an empty wall, his hand covered mine --- with gentle pressure on my fingers, he guided me as we sprayed the first stroke of green.

Adrenline kicked in and I just wanted to paint every white wall. Alexander took a bottle of spray paint for himself and begin spraying in a frivolous manner, a smile gracing his lips.

" Is this even allowed?" I squeaked out.

" I told you Gabriel, I love to bend the rules." He surprised me by spraying a heart on my white shirt. My eyes virtually bulged out upon seeing that red heart on my shirt -- my favourite one to add.

" ...You didn't..." I stated, a cheeky grin creeping up my lips.

"Oh I so very much did.." his expression mirrored mine.

"IT'S GOING DOWN ALEXANDER WILDE!" I exclaimed, grabbing two bottles of spray paint and showering them all over him.

He broke out into a laughing fit, challenging me by spraying more purple paint on me. He held me back, before grabbing the red spray paint to finish writing something on the white wall.

I bit my lip, hoping to hide the blush on my cheeks. I let my eyes run over the words he wrote repeatedly.

G.H + A.W I love you Gabriel Harris

My eyes met his copper brown ones, he had that look on his face --- the one that made me feel like the most gorgeous man that walled the earth.

It was then that I just wanted to lean in and kiss him, I craved his lips on mine -- especially since the last time I felt his lips on mine was when we were at the party.

Moving towards him, I hooked my arms around hsi neck, leaning in close.

I was so near, just a breath a away from tasting his lips, those lips taht could set my body on fire. However, a voice interrupted the heated moment.

" Oi what do y'all think y'all are doing!" The security guard shouted at us.

Alexander whipped his head back towards me, his eyes still shining with mischief.

" 1...2...3...RUN!!!"
