I was glad I was on low cut, I had to soak my head in the water to cool myself but my phone kept ringing. After bathing thoroughly I came out refreshed and saw lots of missed calls on my phone, including Duke which I called him up.

“Sis what’s wrong I’ve calling, good afternoon, he greeted.

“Duke you won’t believe it, I said.

“What? He asked.

“I saw my friend Precious, you know her right? She was at my wedding, I replied.

“Oh oh yes i remember her. Wow that’s pretty long, what about her? He asked.

“She’s getting married to Desmond, I replied.

“Oh wait, which Desmond? He asked.

“She’s getting married to my ex husband! I shouted.

“Oh this is not good, Joan please come back, don’t do anything funny I am begging you, Duke said.

“You know what? He’s filthy rich, I continued.

“Arghhh common Joan come back, Duke said.

“Forget it Duke, I want to see their faces, I want to be their guest, I said.

“Joan listen to me! You have to come back let’s talk about this, don’t do something that you’ll be embarrassed or put in trouble, you’re divorced and he has every right to get married again right? He asked.

“Are you daft or something? Joan maybe stupid before but I certainly know when something is wrong and I can feel it, those two played me a fool and there’s nothing you can do to stop me now, I said.

“So what do you plan to do? Storm in there and scatter the wedding or probably pick a fight with them? Will that change what happened in the past between you two? Won’t that hurt you the more and you’ll end up achieving nothing but get distressed the more. That’s why I am asking you to come back so we can talk about this carefully, you need to strategize and plan things out if you feel they played you all along okay. Sis come back, I am begging you, Duke said using that voice he always succeeds in trapping me down and I closed my eyes and dropped the call. I sat on the bed rubbing my wet hair and breathed out, stood up and dressed up and left the hotel.

I arrived home and Duke welcomed me but I angrily went in ignoring him and threw the bag I returned with.

“Sis I understand, Duke said sitting down.

“You understand nothing. How could he do that to me? Getting married to my best friend and doing all he do say to me for her, how did that happen? I asked him.

“Sis he must have made it, he must have gotten the job he always wanted. Remember its more than 3 years and anyone can get back on his feet before that time, okay look at you, are you not better than you were before? How did you do it? For the fact that he was your ex husband does not mean he will continue to be the poor Desmond you used to know or has no right to be happy. Everyone deserves the best right?, Duke asked and I looked at him and bursted out laughing hard.

“Oh I see I am not the only person blind, you’re also becoming blind the way I was before. I won’t be at peace until I know how Desmond made such wealth, I can explain how I made mine, he should better get ready to explain how he got his own, I said.

“Oh sis stop it, and when you know how he got his wealth what will you do with it? I thought you moved on? Why are you hurting yourself all over again? You’ll make him feel relevant or he still has a place in your life if you reduce yourself to fight them like a child, he said.

“Wait a minute, I thought you called me home because you had something important you wanted telling me and not the trash you are spitting here now. I won’t let this slide, I won’t let Desmond get away with this, he fooled me and I am very sure about that! I shouted getting up.

“Sis dont get me wrong, i am not standing for Desmond okay, Duke said.

“Stand for the truth and open your eyes to it, i said and left for my room.

I took my phone and made enough browsing on the net, I wasn’t a social media type because I was so pressed with work, but I had to ignore everything and found out Precious had a different name on the Internet.

“Oh I see, that’s why I was not able to get to you all this while because you have another identity on net, I said smiling to myself and a knock came on the door.

“I’m busy! I shouted to whoever it was.

“Its me sis, Sandra, the voice replied and I heaved and opened up knowing it was Duke girlfriend. I returned back to my bed which she sat down looking at me as I concentrated on my laptop,

“I know about everything that happened, Duke told me, Sandra said and I nodded.

“I must be so unfortunate right? I asked.

“Don’t say that, she replied.

“Sandra do you know me? Do you think I am jealous or something? I asked looking at her.

“All I see is a woman who wants to assure herself that it wasn’t her fault her home fell before. All I see is a woman who is just looking for an answer to all the questions that has been running through her head, you’re not jealous Joan and I will help you. I know a little about Precious, there’s one of my friend who is a big fan of her and she will tell me more, Sandra replied and I smiled.

“Thank you, thank you so much, finally someone with a brain is talking. I don’t Care if Desmond is rich, i wish him that, but everything is suspicious here and I won’t take that lightly. I used to let things go because I’ve suffered so much from the beginning, but losing my child I got my sense of reasoning back, I said and she nodded and made a call.

“Hello how far? A voice came on phone.

“I’m good, enjoying your celebrity marriage huh? Sandra asked her.

“Omoh everywhere is lit I dey watch for net sha because I hear its strictly on invitation and you must get card before you enter. E no even look like traditional marriage sef, she replied.

“Me I for like know more about this your celebrity o, na she dey rich abi her husband? Sandra asked.

“From what I heard na her husband get money sha but he been dey poor before o, they been don date tey tey, she replied.

“Na wa o see money, but the husband dey work abi na business man? Sandra asked and the lady on phone laughed.

“Sandra kill me o shebi I be their family member? She asked back.

“Na you dey always get the latest gist about celebrities na, you sabi their background pass Wikipedia and I know say you go gist me well, Sandra replied laughing also.

“The guy na business man, big time one, she replied.

“Hmm it is well I don see am, do marry your own make me too follow chop money o as your paddy nd, Sandra said and the lady laughed.

“When your own get head already with ego, na me for tell you that one sef make he do fast abeg, the lady said and Sandra laughed.

“Leave me o, I’ll call you back sha, bye, Sandra said and dropped the call and I laughed clapping my hands.

“So his a business man? Really? I asked folding my arms and Duke walked in.

“Oh thank God you are here, Desmond is not working but a business man, how? I asked Duke.

“How? I don’t understand how will I know? He asked back.

“No you will know o because you feel I am jealous of Desmond because we are no longer married. I don’t care about his money because I never married him for money in the first place and I have always been the lady who struggled to get my money but who cares now he’s rich? Sandra just called her friend and she said Precious has been dating Desmond even when he was poor, so they were dating? I asked Duke and Duke slowly sat down on the bed.

“What if it was after you already divorced him? Duke asked and I smiled.

“Why is she scared of me? Why did she deny knowing me when I saw her yesterday? I never had a problem with Precious but why did she behave that way with me if not guilty conscience? I asked and Duke heaved.

“What will we do now? Anything sister I get your back if that will make you calm and not worried anymore, Duke said and I smiled giving him a hi-five.

“Now you’re talking like my brother, I said and we laughed together………….

There was a serious investigation going on and I came to know Desmond was doing the exact business he told me about when I gave him the 3 million naira.

“Can that amount hit that big? Yes I know that’s a huge sum of money but……. “I used 150,000 naira to be where I am now. Anyone who has a great idea and vision about a business and the secret on how to succeed in it will surely hit big. If I had ever used a million naira to start a business I won’t be here, I may be a deuce when it comes to education but not in business, and again, Desmond was partnering with some persons where they added the money up to order for the goods, i came in on Patience.

“Then is it likely he lied about the ship sinking? Sandra asked and I looked at her and stood up pacing.

“I don’t get it, he would have run away, I replied her.

“And why will he endure working as a laborer in an oil mill even after the ship sank if it was a lie? Patience asked and Duke cleared his throat.

‘Sis, anything can happen, what if he did a little business and got the money again to invest into the business again? Just thinking out aloud, Duke said.

“And you’re always thinking rubbish. Desmond knows nothing about business and how long did it take for him to blow this big? This is his 2 years now, I said.

“Then he must have done something crooked along the way just to make it quick who knows? Anything can happen to struggling guys whose eyes are red to make cash at all cost, Sandra said and I went to the window and looked through outside.

“I said it, nothing good will come out investigating this Desmond, let everyone move on and rest abeg, Duke said and yawned but I was quiet still looking outside then I turned and looked at them,

“What if the ship didn’t sink in the first place? I asked.

“Ahh we are still going in circles, if he lied why was he still suffering? Was he that heartless to see you so frustrated even when you were carrying his child? Duke asked.

“What if those he partnered with lied? They are the only people that will telI us exactly what happened, I said and Duke looked at me………….
