I rolled my head here and there. My neck hurts and I opened my eyes, I groaned and felt my open wound. Who know what is going on outside?.

I looked from the window and saw a palm wine joint. Things were going on smoothly, I felt hungry and I knew from the things I am seeing. It is possible foood would be sold there. I whined up my glass and slowly got out. The pain had eased off though I still felt it stinging somehow.

I picked my diary and walked out with little change in my hand. I moved towards the joint, entered and sat down in a corner, looking around. Soon, two men entered laughing sarcastically and sat at my front talking about their s*xcapades.

Fikayo Good evening sir.

I greeted in English doubting if they would understand me.

1 Man Good evening o.. What did you want?.

Fikayo Humm.. sorry sir, can I use your phone and besides I am lost, I don’t know where exactly I am.

I said in a convincing tone.

The men looked at me for few minutes and muttered something into themselves ear s.

2 Man Young man.. You’re in Mowe.

Fikayo (Awe) Ohh.. Mowe.

I took the phone and went out to the side of the shred. I opened my diary and dialled Dr. Richards, my colleague’s mobile phone number. It rang twice and he picked it up the third time.

Dr.

Richards ( In a professional voice) Hello.. Richards on the line.

Fikayo Sorry pal.. This is Fikayo Adekunle… Dr Adekunle.

Dr. Richards (Shocked) Whaaat!!!.. Oh my God.. Fikayo.. everyone is crazy about you.. The D.G wants you back.. Where thou art you been?.

He said, shouting on the phone happily.

Fikayo pal, it is a long story.. I am somewhere.

Dr. Richards Oh Man.. Is it your wife?.. You’d better leave her okay.. just name what you want.. Come back here. No one is mad at you. (Replied eagerly).

Fikayo Hope the D.G ain’t mad?

I asked with dobut, coz I am out of work for quite a long time now, who wouldn’t be mad at me.

Dr. Richards would you at least believe me uhn..

Fikayo Okay.. Thanks.

I said and disengaged the call.

I thanked the men and settled down eating two wraps of Fufu and vegetable soup. Lots were going through my mind, I was devastated and doubted if I would be able to trust women again. I cursed and regreeted the day i met Christianah. I had seen we were not made for each other a long time ago but I kept on. Why?. I was blindly in love with her. I took a deep sigh and got up to pay the money and walked out towards my car, I wounded up the glasses and wore a cardigan. I pressed my car seat down and slept off.

I woke up to the noise of something like a much bigger mosquito but much scarier. I was trembling with fear, everywhere was so dark. I felt weak but still manage to keep on calling the name of Jesus.

I opened the car’s door and got out to urinate . The ”Eerie sound” rented the air move and I urinate fast but I was shivering and as I turned to leave. I came face to face with a being, who had just an eye, two big ears and thin legs. It was tall and kinda muscular.

There was anger written on it face. I made to run but I was rooted to the spot. It moved towards me swiftly with the club in it hand in a bid to hit me. With super human effort by God, I managed to run but it was short lived. It met me and stood before me, I trembled and kept muttering blood of Jesus. It gave me a bloody slap that made me run back to my car. I could hear it sinister laughter, I opened the car’s door and my hands shook as I tried igniting the car.

The

car started and I raced it away, giving a sharp turn and headed back to Lagos. It was just 2Am but I was determined to get back. My Camry raced beautifully but soon , I felt something trickling out of my right ear. I touched it and saw it was pulse that was gushing out. Sh*t!..

I took one piece of cloth on my car’s dashboard and blocked my running ear with it. I kept on racing my car. Soon I saw some guys on the road my instinct told me, they were armed robbers.

I heard ”Stop there”!!.

Nibo?!!. I swore and pressed the turtle harder, they scattered and cursed me but I was far beyond caring.

I got to Lagos and faced the road to Luth. I am gonna park there and wait till day breaks. My ear was still running and I felt sharp stinging pains all over.

I parked my car and groaned in pain as I slowly drifted into sleep.

I woke up to the people’s shouting, I looked around weakly and saw my arm was being fastened to a drip and that I was on a stretcher. I was wheeled in, How?.. my eyes closed once more.

After about a month, I was okay and already back at work place. I had no worries anymore. I had even gotten an apartment which I lavishly furnished. Women weren’t on my even on my mind for a second. I was living a free life. I even got promoted and my salary was increased.

Well,

That day I was in my office assessing some research files, I was invited by the Imperial College of medicine London to give a talk. The D.G was an old man so he bestowed the invitation on me. I was happy.

A knock sounded on the door.

Fikayo Come in.

The door opened and Dr. Richards came inside.

Dr. Richards My doctor.

I noticed someone behind him. I removed my glasses and wiped my forehead.

It was TOWOBOLA!!.

Fikayo (Smiling) Hello. Doc.

I didn’t look at Towobola’s side at all though I felt her looking at me. She was kind of surprised I had grown more fresher and handsome. Initially I used to have a low cut and big heard but I had changed to an old skool hairstyle and clean shaven.

Dr. Richards My doctor.. I have brought you your woman.. Whatever that might happened.. it wasn’t her fault. Forgive her.

I heaved a sigh.

Fikayo I have heard you, Doc.

Dr. Richards Okay.. Thanks.

Dr. Richards said and stood up to leave.

I watched him as he left.

Towobola stood up and walked towards me looking sad. She knelt before me and held my laps.

I looked away.

Towobola Fikayo.

She sadly called.

Fikayo Hunn.

Towobola I understand what happened and I heard what you passed through. I looked for you everywhere until your colleague called me here.. You wouldn’t even find me.. For God, sake Fikayo, I am carrying your baby.

I made no reply.

Towobola Honey.

Fikayo (Coldly) Yeah.

She looked at me for few seconds and jumped on me on the chair I sat. She was crying and saying “Fikayo.. I love you”.
