I woke up to the aroma of plantain being fried.

My mouth watered at the thought of having that sweet smelling thing in my belly.

I yawned and remembered what had transpired few hours ago. Towobola and I had unlimited s*x which was superb. I just enjoyed her since the one we had last time was due to my drunkenness. I stood up and wore of her T shirt and walked out of the room.

I heard sound of pepper being dished into a hot frying pan. It made sound like it used to. I peeped and saw her sweating, moving around actively.

Fikayo ( Clear throat) Erhm.. Erhm.

Towobola Ohh.. Honey. You scared me.

She said and started laughing and holding her chest.

Fikayo (smiled) well sorry.

Towobola Hum.. Fikayo. My mother is coming tonight, she wanted to meet you coz I told her you will be here.

She said and looked at my face in fear.

Fikayo (Exclaimed) Whaaat!.

Towobola I am sorry. I have it in control, I got you nice clothes from my boutique.

She said and moved towards me.

Fikayo (Angrily) You don’t get me. I ain’t physically balance, no money, I lost my job.

Towobola No. Don’t say that, okay fine, we will set up our own clinic.

I gave her the what do you mean look.

Towobola Hmm. You just go and freshen up.

She said and winked at me seductively.

I looked at her little protruded belly

I was inside the dressing when I heard voices . A male and female voices. Towobola laughed and greeted. I froze where I was. I knew her parents were around. Her mother’s voice seem harsh and loud. Jesus! I soon heard footsteps and I knew it to be Towobola’s.

She opened the door and beckoned me to come out.

I staggered out and soon got to the sitting room. I hurriedly prostrated before them.

Towobola’s Father Pele.. Omo mi, how is everything? (Smiling).

Fikayo I am fine sir.

Her mother was looking at me from head to toe with scorn. I turned to look at her face but the eyes that greeted me almost made me sink to the ground.

Towobola This is Fikayo.

Towobola hurriedly said, she saw it all.

Towobola’s mother (looking at me scornfully) Fikayo or whatever . You can’t marry my daughter o. Uhn not when I am alive.

She said with hatred in her voice.

Towobola’s Father Haaa. You this woman.

Her father said and looked at her mother Angrily.

Towobola’s

mother Kini. Let me talk. He can’t marry my daughter. Look at how he is, what does he has to take care of her. Yet he impregnated her because she is beautiful. He is a gold digger.

Towobola (Sadly) mummy. But I am not complaining. Fikayo is not a gold digger, he is a medical doctor for God sake, he just had a problem.

Towobola’s mother Gb’enu e soun. Is this one you open your laps for? You are shameless.

I breathed in deeply and then suddenly stood up. I prostrated before them and made to leave.

Towobola’s Father Don’t worry Fikayo. We will soon see to talk.

It is obvious he doesn’t have much control over his wife.

Towobola Fikayooo.

She called in years but I didn’t answer her. I walked out of the house.

Towobola’s mother Aww… One legged race.

Her mum humoured and laughed.

Towobola If I don’t marry Fikayo, I promise you and everyone to commit suicide.

I could hear their noises till I was out of hearing them. I staggered along the road. I need to get to my home and perhaps , I could start working as a porter on market days.

I walked for almost an hour and sat down to rest. I saw a shop and being so thirsty. I walked towards it and begged for water. The woman came out, looking at my face.

Fikayo Please ma, I need water.

Bukola Uncle Fikayo. Am I right?

Fikayo Yes.

Bukola Do you remember me?

Fikayo No.

Bukola You don’t remember, Bukola, your junior in CSM high school, your friend Sunday sister.

The tricycle dropped me at the front of my gate. I knocked and heard a voice shouting “Who be that?”.

Funny a gateman in my house.

The gate opened and a guy showed his face.

Fikayo Can I get into my house.

I said with authority.

Gate guy (Laughed) You must be a lunatic.

I pushed him away and entered my compound, I knew someone was home and I entered the door and walked inside.

Christianah (scared) Sh*t! Spirit.

She said and ran behind the guy who was pressing my TV. It was the same guy who stabbed me. He was shaking and his teeth was rattling. I looked at them and entered my room.

I broke the wardrobe door and took the bag I stored my certificates, packed few clothes, I searched for my other GTB, Atm and my car key. Little did they know I had a licensed pistol at home, I packed everything and moved out.

The

guy (Shouted) Heyyy.. Where are you taking those things to ba-stard?

I stopped and turned back, pointed my pistol at him and shot his left ankle . He tripped and fell groaning in pain.

I entered my car and told the gate guy to open the gate but he refused, I pointed the pistol at him and he hurriedly opened the gate and I drove out.

To hell with you all, I thought.

I faced the road to Ibadan. The wound I had, had started bleeding again.

I parked and removed the clothe I wore, thought of what to do. I opened the case at muy dashboard and brought out a Methylated spirit. I poured it on it. I threw it away and groaned as it stung me real hard.

I lost consciousness.
