Nancy’s POV

Paul’s POV

After the party at FBI headquarters, I drove Joan home to my apartment. When we got there she was too tired and all she wanted to do was sleep. So I carried her and she said I should drop her and I did gently. Then we walked into the apartment. I lived in a three bedroom apartment with all the amenities which a bachelor needed. I then showed Joan to the spare bedroom and I scratched the back of my head and said that I was a terrible cook and she said don’t worry about feeding that once I’m done with a shower, I’ll fix something for the both of us to eat. So I went into my room and took off my clothes and had a shower for about 15 minutes and when I was done, I came out to find Joan already in the kitchen. She was cooking something and it really smelt nice. I walked into the kitchen and asked so what’s cooking? She said it was macaroni and cheese and she added I learnt to cook it at Lillian’s house when I came for Diana’s wedding and she continued I think its Lillian’s best food. She cooked and I asked her how did you and Lillian meet? She said that they met in school and I asked she’s your best friend right? She said no doubt she understands me and I understand her also. Then she said I should pass her the plate on the rack beside me and I did. She served the food into the plate and she took it to the dining and set it on the table. She asked me do you have any orange juice? I told her to check in the fridge and she returned to the kitchen and brought a jar of orange juice with two glasses and set it on the table also. I wanted to dig into the food immediately, but she slapped my hand and said let us pray. She did and after everything I said Amen. I asked her can I eat now? She said to go ahead and when I put the first spoon full into my mouth, it was as if I was in heaven because the food was really delicious. I ate and cleared the plate. After eating, I took both our plates to the kitchen and washed them after which I returned to the dining and drank my glass of orange juice.

Joan asked so where am I to sleep? I told her that the room I showed her to when she arrived was hers. Then I went to sleep. Around 3 am, I heard a noise at the third bedroom and I grabbed my gun because I thought a boggler had gotten into the house. When I got there I saw Joan in the room I kept all the memorabilia of my late girlfriend and she wanted to speak and I shouted at her shut up! Didn’t I tell you that the other room is yours and I said now tell me what you are doing here? She tried to speak and I shouted her down and I said why did I even invite you into my life? I told her to get out of the room and she ran away in tears. I sat on the floor and started to think to myself. I said to myself Antonia you haven’t released your hold on me. Look at how I just shouted on an innocent girl who has done nothing but show me love. I stood up and went to apologise to Joan but when I got to her door, it was locked. I knocked and told her to open up and she was crying and said I should go away. I said if she didn’t open the door I was going to sleep outside her door and she didn’t say anything. I lay in front of her door until daybreak. Then I received an urgent call from work saying that they needed me at the office and I went to prepare for work. Joan didn’t come out of the room until I left the house. At work that day I wasn’t concentrating at all and my direct superior noticed this and called me into his office and asked me what’s wrong? I told him that I had a quarrel with someone I wasn’t supposed to fight with and he asked me was it that lady you were with yesterday? I was reluctant to give him anymore information and he said oh don’t worry I don’t need the details. He ordered me to go home and settle any outstanding issues I had because clearly it was affecting my work and so I left the office that day and headed home.
