“Sir, please I’m begging you, apprehend Leo and his gang now, I don’t want to lose my life after losing that of my father in their hands… please sir I’m begging you, I am still breathing because I am really hungry to avenge the death of my innocent father. The pains and suffering him and his gangs caused on my family is irremediable. Yes, I could vividly evoke the way he spoke on that very night, the mewling of my rare father, the unwillingly moaning and whimpering of my lovely sister and the yelling of my dearest mother. Yes! It happened that I was inside the toilet when I heard the screaming of my sister, I wanted to barge out of the toilet so as to know what is happening, I was about unlocking the door when I heard the husky voice of one of the assassins, threatening my mother who was sitting on her wheelchair with the gun he was holding. I thought of coming out the toilet to confront them but I gave it a second thought. My phone wasn’t with me so I was unable to call the Law Enforcement Agency. My father was an influential businessman during his life time. He was very rich. Rich? Slip of tongue. Wealthy I mean. We live in affluence and riches. My sister, Adaeze and I are the only surviving children of my parent. Adaeze popularly call Ada is my immediate sister, we play all night, we do things together, and we really love each other. My love for Adaeze is so deep that I can’t trade her for anything, anything I mean.

“Oboy, this girl is sweet o.” Jeff, Leo’s friend mentioned and his statement called the attentions of the remaining four assassins plus Leo.

“Yes o, she is sweet and irresistible.” Leo answered with smile all over his face. Leo moved closer to my sister, he tried caressing her but he failed

“What’s your name?” Leo asked Adaeze who was shivering and sweating at a time.

“Ada…eze… sir.” Adaeze replied stammering.

“Hmmm… Adaeze you know you’re sweet, right?” Leo uttered smiling.

“No s…” Adaeze rebutted but Leo landed a thunderous slap on her cheek, she held her cheek in pain and she cried softly.

In short, Adaeze was raped by Leo and Jeff. As if that wasn’t enough, they killed my lovely father. Leo said they were sent to kill him, Leo placed the pistol he was holding on my father’s head like this (he demonstrated using his left hand), without a second thought, he pulled the trigger of the gun and its echo rented the house. Father dropped dead instantly and Leo and the other left the house. My mother couldn’t do anything, she was helpless and weak. She couldn’t cry, she was just looking at my ghost father without even blinking her eyes. Adaeze rolled on the floor, she yelled and cried out loud, her virginity was taken from her by unknown men. Her father was also killed by assassins. What a pity!” Steve pause his narration as tears dropped freely from his eyes.

“Steve, don’t worry I know how you feel…” Corporal Martins consoled as he shook his head pity.

“The following day of the attack, father’s family came to our house, instead of them to consoled us, rather, they talked about my father’s properties all through, how it will be shared and everything. Two weeks later father’s family came to our house and we were told to vacate the house that they can’t shelter bastards. Officer, you see the pains and suffering Leo and his gang caused on my family. An irredeemable suffering, an ever-lasting pains, they had committed the gravest sin in my life and they had committed an unforgivable sin which they must pay for, even if I am to sacrifice my life.” Steve concluded with tears in his eyes. Corporal Martins moved closer to him and he hugged him delightfully.

“Steve, I vow with my life that justice will prevail. No, justice must prevail… I don’t mind anything I don’t want to know those that are involved in this, their statues, power and anything, I don’t want to know; the guilty must pay for their sins, the criminals won’t go scot-free.” Corporal Martins vowed as he slowly disengaged from Steve.

“A criminal was born out of a criminal… bed of the same feather flocks together, father to a criminal please move.” Corporal Martins uttered in parable directing his statement to puzzled Mr. Chorus.

LOCATION: GENERAL HOSPITAL (DOCTOR’S OFFICE)

“Amnesia?” Chief Chris sighed motionlessly.

“Yes Chief…” The Doctor replied but unfinished.

“You mean she can’t remember things that happened to her recently?” Chief Chris asked befuddled.

“Perhaps sir…” The Doctor replied.

“Perhaps? By the way, does she have any chance of regaining her lost memory?” Chief Chris asked impatiently.

“Hmmm… yes, but to regain her lost memory it won’t take nothing less than six months.” The Doctor announced with cheerless impression glooming on his face.

“Six months?” Chief Chris sighed.

“Yes… and that’s if she is lucky because she has 50-50 chance of surviving.” The Doctor elucidated as he closed the file he was checking.

“What could have caused this Amnesia of a thing?” Chief Chris soliloquized silently.

“It maybe from the shock she experienced during the incident but I sense it is because of the injuries she sustain on her head.” The Doctor explained. Chief Chris fixed his gazed at the doctor and the doctor did same.

“They will surely rot in jail.” Chief Chris uttered angrily as he rose on his feet to leave.

“Chief, please be more sensitive on this matter, take things easy so that you won’t regret in the end.” The Doctor cautioned as he griped his stethoscope.

“What do you mean Emma?” The chief asked angrily with some kind of husky voice.

“I don’t mean anything sir, I just advice you as your family doctor.” Doctor Emma returned faking a smile.

“Better…” The Chief concluded as led the way out of the doctor’s office.

LOCATION: ARMY BARRACK (BARRACK WALFARE)

“Daniel, please stop crying…” I, Ola cautioned with eyes soak with tears.

“Few months ago, mother narrated how father spent his life, how they met and how things work well for them. She told me that father was a soldier, a high ranked soldier to be precise. She said father was a loyal and honest soldier during his life time, he dislike and doesn’t stand for injustice, he doesn’t take bribes and he doesn’t work for politicians, he is satisfied with his salary and his salary only. She said I was just two months old when she was called that father is dead. She rushed to the barrack and she was told that a fellow soldier assassinated him in his office. She told me that she later found out the truth and she knew the person that killed my father but she never told me the name of the person not even any information about the culprit who murdered my father. Now I’m now an orphan. Ola, I will find out the trust and I will avenge the death of my parent because I am very sure mother was killed, her death isn’t natural.” Daniel narrated and concluded brilliantly.

“What a world of injustice! But Daniel you have my mother, don’t see yourself as an orphan.” I sighed and consoled heavy-heartedly.

“Listen to yourself Ola… you said I have your mother, but she isn’t mine?” Daniel barked loudly and I looked at him in dismay.
