Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 10

Every moment of life is a step towards death.

I saw my body lying helplessly on the floor. I tried to open the door but couldn’t hold a grab. I penetrated through the door and I found myself outside. I saw one of my neighbors watching cloth, I called on him, but he seems not to hear. I move closer to him and scream more louder to his ear… But he didn’t hear me. I try to touch him but my hand slip over. I moved away from him and exit the compound. I head to my friends place. I met then eating rice. I called on them but non of them seems to hear me. Then its started occurring to me that am all alone and dead…

I sat down on the floor and began crying bitterly. ” so this is the end of the journey for me, so my friends won’t be able to hear non see me again. ” I said as I cry bitterly.

I left there and head to Gen Adelaja house with the hope of talking to Adesewa. On entering the compound. The two dogs on chain began barking non stop. I closed my eyes then imagine am with Adesewa. By the time I opened it, I found myself beside Adesewa in her room.I saw her combing her hair, I move closer to her then whisper softly into her ears ” Adesewa, am here can you here me? ” she continue combing her hair then all of a sudden she look at me direction. I thought she heard me, not until she walk through me into the bathroom. I screamed her name more loudly but she didn’t hear me. Cloud of tears entwined my eyes, I move very fast away from her, I found myself in the living room, there sitted in the living room was Gen Adelaja, Gbenga Father and Gbenga . I heard them discussing about getting Adesewa and Gbenga married. My tears mixed with anger, right before my very eyes, everything is being taken away from me, my life and also my woman. By that so called Gbenga, am just so helpless.

I can hear the dog still barking, so I advance towards one of them.

” it seems you can see me, can you hear me? Please if you can see and hear me… Can you help me tell Adesewa that I love her… Can you please, everyone seems to not see non hear me. Tell Adesewa that I love her. ” I said and hot tears began rolling down my eyes. The dog stop barking and look directly into my eyes as if to say something. But he sorrowfully take his head down and gave a sad whine. ” I got it friend, thanks for your concern ” I said then I take my leave.

I began roaming about the street with the hope to see someone that can hear and see me but I found non. After a while I head back home, on approaching the compound, I saw alot of crowd in front of the house. Some were crying and yelling, I saw my friends in tears. Not long, an ambulance entered the compound and I saw my lifeless body being taken into the ambulance, and the body was drove away. 10 minutes after the ambulance was gone. Adesewa car entered the compound, she hurriedly rush out of the car and approached Michael. She hold him tightly on his clothe and began trowing several question at him.

” please where is ay, tell me its a lie. Please tell me is not true. Michael!!! Talk to me!!! ” Michael look at her then shake his head sadly. Adesewa make a loud scream then she fall back on the ground with her back. The people around there rushed to her and she was taken to the hospital.

I never believe my death could attract alot of horrible things like this. Adesewa is being admited in the hospital just because of me.

My ever happy friends became someone waking up everyday with tears in their eyes. Mama Ayo was always crying whenever I see her and papa Ayo is not too far away from crying. Its just that he does his silently.

I was roaming about one afternoon when I saw a lady crying, she was putting on thesame white cloth as mine. I approached her then ask her the reason for her tears, she look at my direction then she take back her head and continue the cry. I thought maybe she can’t see me, I was about leaving her side when I heard her saying something. ” because am dead ” she said. ” so you can hear me? ” I asked with much joy. ” yes I can, because we are in the same spirit world ” she replied.

” I thought am alone ” I said looking directly at her. ” Yea, you are alone” she said then made to leave. ” so what’s your name? ” I asked after her. ” I was called Ruth” she said then she disappear.

I head to the hospital where Adesewa was admitted. She’s yet to open her eyes, I wonder what’s going on. Then I heard the doctor talking about her condition to her father, Gen Adelaja. ” am sorry sir, your daughter illness is somehow strange to me, she’s not responding to treatment, I would advise you to try consulting our local ways of healing. I hope you understand what I mean by that ” the doctor said. Gen Adelaja bow his head in sadness and arrange for Adesewa to be transfer.

I followed them to where she was taken to, and I found out that its a herbalist place.

Something prevented me from entering the compound, but I can hear everything they are saying clearly from where I am.

The herbalist consulted the oracle, and after a while of incantation he speak up.

Herbalist : I see death following your daughter.

Gen Adelaja : death as how baba.?

Herbalist : by this time tomorrow she will be dead.

Gen Adelaja : ha baba, please don’t let her die, she’s the only daughter I have in this earth. Her mother is dead am left with only her, please don’t let her die.

Herbalist : her soul is attached to another soul, but that soul is no more.

Gen Adelaja : I still don’t understand baba.

Herbalist : your daughter life is dependable on someone else life. Once that person is dead, your daughter too will die.

Gen Adelaja : ha baba!! What is the way out.

Herbalist : Am sorry son, there’s nothing I can do.

Gen Adelaja lie flat on the floor and he began crying. Now I understand everything the herbalist said to him. Adesewa is going to die if I remain dead. The only way to save Adesewa is if am alive. But am not alive, am dead…

I ran out of the compound crying bitterly, Ruth saw me and asked me the reason why am crying.

Ruth: why are you in tears?

Me: someone I love is going to die tomorrow because am dead.

Ruth : am very sorry to hear that.

Me: why are we like this?

Ruth: because, our time is not yet up.

Me: really?

Ruth: yes, we die before our time.

Me: is there any hope for us.

Ruth: we are hopeless.

Me: oh so Adesewa is going to die?

Ruth : is that her name?

Me: yes.

Ruth : some have the hope of after life, some have the hope of returning back to life, but its takes only a miracle for that to happen.

Me: so I could return?

Ruth : with only a miracle.

Me: maybe the miracle will work for me.

Ruth : I hate to disillusion you… We are as good as hopeless.

I left her then move to a silent spot.

” God please, I know that am a sinner, second chance is all I asked for, am not asking for a second chance just because of I need it. But because of Adesewa, the woman I love so much, God please I don’t want her to die. I didn’t worth being given a second chance but she worth more than it. God please spare her life, don’t let her die because of me. God please… ”

I felt a sudden vibration like an electric shock all over my body. And everything went black before my eyes.
