One evening, I was in my room reading my book when my mother came, as she saw me reading she smiled and sat beside me.

“Mum! is everything okay, this one you are smiling “I had asked

yes my sunshine, everything is okay, just that anytime I see you reading am very happy and proud of you, you reminded me of my youth, I was the most brilliant student in my own time and I came out with a flying colors after my education, which I want you to take after me, when your father was alive, he always wished for you to be a doctor and he promised to make that come true, hmm….. but too bad he is no more, my daughter, all hope are not gone, as far as I your mother is still alive, you will achieve your dream of becoming what you want to be, all you have to do is to be a good girl and consectrate on your studies, don’t allow anything to distract you, pls my daughter, you are all I have and I want you to promise me that you will always be a good girl “my mother said

mum! you know that have always been a good girl and I also promised dad when he was alive that I will be a good girl, I love you mum and I promise that I will always be the good girl you want me to be, and also make you proud “I assured my mother and she was very happy and she embrace me with tears dropping from her eyes.

Two years later, my mother find love again in Kinsley and they both started dating, Kinsley was one of the worker in my late father’s company, I mean he was the accountant in the company, he was younger than my mom, like they said love is blind and age doesn’t matter in a relationship because is just a number. my mother was five years older than Kinsley, they don’t care about their age differences, all they know is that they are in love, As they were dating, not too long Kinsley proposed to my mother which she gladly accepted and from there they got married. I was happy to see my mother married again because ever since my father died she wasn’t the happy woman she used to be before, but after she met Kinsley and got married to him she became happy again. Not that l like uncle Kinsley, just that am only concerned of my mother’s happiness.

Some days after the marriage between my mother and her new husband Kinsley, he moved in with us in my late father’s house, at first I didn’t like the idea of him living with us, but my mother told me that is just for temporary that he will not live with us for long that he is building his own house that very soon he will finish with it and both of them will move out to his new house, while I will stay in my late father’s house that she will bring a maid for me which I believe what my mother said without knowing that she was lying to me.

“mum! I thought you told me that your new husband was building a house that very soon he will finish with it, it’s been almost one year now and he is still living in my late father’s house “I had said to her

“yes my child you are right, the thing is that the people building the house for him have not yet finish with it, I know you don’t like him but don’t worry they will soon finish with it and we will move out from here to his house “my mother responded, she knew that I don’t like him for one bit because I see him like a gold digger and opportunies

“ok mum, if you say so because you know is not proper for uncle Kinsley to be living in my father’s house because it doesn’t show respect to my father, even though he is dead he still deserve some respect “I said

“I know my child, like I said before he will soon finish building his house and he will move out””

As all this was going on, uncle Kinsley or should I say my step father have refused to move out from my father’s house, it seems as if his so called house he was building was taking eternity to build, so I had no choice but to let him be.
