Heather’s POV

I sighed as I looked through the files again. I love my work, but sometimes it was so stressful! I work as a genetic counselor, so I have to go back into people’s family history to check for possible genetic diseases. But that can be so hard sometimes! I was pulled out of my search when my phone beeped with a text message from my mom: Hey Sweetie! Come to dinner tonight and bring William with you. I groaned. I loved my mom but she has family dinners way too often. Plus, I don’t even know if William will come.

William Solace is my husband, we were arranged to be married 3 months back and the wedding was a couple of weeks ago. I stared into space as I thought about him. He has forest green eyes that are so gorgeous! His hair is black and curly and he has a sharp jaw to go with it. His lips are a soft pink and I always have this urge to kiss them. But of course, he doesn’t.

Despite his killer looks, William had the shittiest personality. He didn’t want to be married to me. He is only 26 and he wanted to enjoy his life. But he is addicted to his work so I don’t know what he has to enjoy. William barely even notices me at home and always has something to complain about me to his friends. He thinks I don’t hear him but of course I do. I ignore it though, I got used to it. William is the owner of the company, Solace Enterprises. He is a billionaire of course and lives in this gigantic mansion. He isn’t a playboy surprisingly. He used to date women once in a while before he married me, but other than that he was single. But I can see why he didn’t date. He has a cold heart and his eyes just stare daggers at you even if you didn’t do anything. He never smiles at me, but I know he does at others. He blames me for our marriage, though I didn’t have anything to do with it! It was all our parents. William doesn’t believe that though.

When we are outside, he acts like he is in love with me when he isn’t. He hasn’t even kissed me yet! Even on our wedding day, he kissed the area next to my lips. I don’t even know what to do about him. He just doesn’t like me and that is that. I was pulled out of my thoughts when my assistant, Kathy, walked in to the office. “Hey Kat, what’s up?”, I asked her. “Hey, you don’t have anymore appointments today since your 2:00 pm canceled.”, she said. “Ok, then I’m gonna head home. You can too.”, I said gathering my files and bag. “Thanks Heather!”, she yelled running out of my office. I walked out to my BMW and hopped in. As I drove home, I tapped my fingers on the steering wheel to Stitches by Shawn Mendes. I was obsessed with that song! I pulled up to the driveway of the mansion.

But I slammed my foot on the brakes when I saw that William’s car was in the driveway. He is never home early. My heart started pounding as I wondered why he was home early. I opened the front door and walked into the parlor.

This is going to be interesting , I thought.
