Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 3
Things were going smooth, the school I was enrolled in was Kate’s school increasing her hatred for me. She told me never to talk to her because she would never see me as one of her family members. I don’t blame her, as an only child, she may feel I came to steal her parent’s love.
I behaved well and keep working hard. Being an art student, I decided to study English as I see myself becoming a teacher in the nearest future. Kate, on the other hand, was in the science department, she is a brilliant and beautiful young girl but I am more beautiful than she is.
My love for singing made me join the school choir and in no time, I was made the choir leader because of my pleasant voice.
Time flew, Kate and I sat for our senior school certificate examination and Jamb. Kate had A’s while I had B and C. She scored 337 in Jamb while I had 250. The pastor advised that we seek admission to the same university. Kate suggested the University of Ibadan and I also agreed.
We wrote the Post Utme and did well. When the admission list came out, we were both given our dream course. Kate, Medicine and Surgery while mine was English. Pastor and his wife were so pleased with us, they got us everything we would need in the university.
Like play, we both became undergraduates. Kate maintained her brilliance as she was the best student in her department, no one not even a male could beat her in the Medicine department. In her third year, she got a scholarship. On my part, I was not the overall best in my department but I was among the best. I joined the campus choir in order to serve God.
Things fell apart for me when I was in my third year. The pastor called us to travel home one weekend as he had an important discussion with us. Kate and I had no option but to travel home.
Getting home, Pastor told us his reason for asking us to come home after dinner one evening.
Pastor: Kate, when are you bringing your fiance to us?
Kate: fiance? Dad, I am just in my third year for God’s sake, I still have four years to go
Pastor’s wife: Kate dear, your studies shouldn’t hinder your relationship life. We are not asking you to get married now but you should have a man in your life, you are no longer a baby
Pastor: your mother is right Kate. Well, I called you home because a young man from your campus fellowship named Raphael was sent to me by your campus pastor. He said God told him that Debby is his wife
Me: what? Me? eerm eerm
Kate: Dad, you mean Adeleke Raphael, tall, fair and good looking?
Pastor: yes my dear or is anything the matter?
Kate: not at all Daddy, I am just surprised
Pastor: so Debby just calm down and pray about it then get back to me
Me: alright sir
