THE MARRIAGE COMMITTEE (M.C)

After my meeting with sister Faithfulness, my mum encouraged me to see my pastor the next day, a Sunday, which I did.

I have been hearing about the marriage committee in the church, but when it was my turn to see them, I was somehow nervous.

I’ve heard several negative stories about them from different persons, but when I met them and submitted the letter, written by my pastor on my behalf, I was surprised at their reaction.

“Wooooowwww…. Wait… we had a letter submitted by a sister that bears this name of yours” one of the pastors said as he stood up to check some files in the shelf behind him.

“Ah… God, let it not be that another sister has come to submit my name to them, please, Oh God!” I prayed silently.

“There are 5 different letters submitted that bears David Ogochukwu” the pastor said as he pulled the files out.

“Hmmmmmmm… 5 different letters!” One of the women leaders present exclaimed.

“Yes, and they all had convincing claims on this brother being the will of God for them” another pastor said as he read through the letters.

At that point, I became confused.

“Oh….what is all this, ehn? I thought all these things ended on campus. Here are 5 different sisters again struggling for one brother. Oh God, what is in me that is attracting all these sisters, sef? Are there not many more anointed, handsome and wealthy brothers than me in this church?” I said within me.

I never knew one of the women leaders there was looking at me. She discerned my confusion and said….

“My brother, you won’t blame those sisters. It’s not their fault.” She said playfully “A brother like you…..Ah…. who will not want to marry a brother like you?” She said and they all laughed.

“There’s no problem. I believe you have your own letter. Bring it let’s see if it matches with any of the sisters we have that had already submitted your name.” They said.

I gave them my letter and waited patiently like someone who’s waiting for a final result of an interview.

I over heard them saying that the sister, whose name I submitted also had about 8 brothers who had submitted her name.

I sat down almost shivering, but I calmed down. I assured myself that ‘it is well’.

“Bro. David, calm down….calm down…” I said to myself as I await their call.

I was called in later and told that my letter matches one of the sisters, Sister Esther Michael.

I almost jumped up with joy, but I calmed down.

That joy….hmmm… I’ve never experienced it before. That happiness….. Only God can explain it as well as those of you, my beloved brethren, who I believe have experienced what I am saying. If you have not experienced it, just calm down.. it will happened soon.

They subjected me through some interviews.

I must confess, if not that I was really convinced and my testimonies were not a made up one, I would have failed the interview. Their questionings were normal and I told them the truth. No hiding. I told them everything that happened, my mistakes, my chastisement, etc.

It was then I came to realised that those that normally say all manner of evil things about the M.C, maybe their testimonies were not genuine, and they just want to double cross the process or something else.

Anyway, to cut the long story short, all necessary things were done and I was told to go and propose……

Hmmmmmmm….let me pause and drink cold water first before I continue…….
