You know.. The funny thing about the Life we have is that it’s so full of surprises and the annoying thing is you’ll never see it coming.. And it will hit you in a way, you’ll expect..

My break up with Christen had affected me in a way I never imagined.. I couldn’t sleep at night.. In fact I couldn’t concentrate.. All I could think about is christen…

At first I thought it was just a joke Christen was pulling on me.. But I later realized she was serious about it…

Christen was back to her former self.. Cold and snobby.. Whenever we walked passed each in halls or cafeteria, She would pretend as If she had never met me.. Even when I try to seat next to her in class, she would stand up immediately and go to another seat far away from me… I tried talking to her but she would just ignore me as if I was a stranger to her.. Christen avoided me totally as if I was some of kind of curse on her…

So after I had tried so many times to get Christen’s attention, I decided to ignore her as well.. I knew there was something that was making Christen act this way, because I know she wouldn’t just avoid me without any reason.

And as it turns out.. People had began to take notice of the way Christen and I were behaving.. It didn’t take long for them to find out that we had broken up and the news spread like wildfire… And as usual They were curious to know what had happened.. Neither Christen or I gave anyone a reply… Seeing that Christen was now vacant.. Most of the guys tried their luck on her.. I laughed so hard as I laid back watching her ignore them.. And I was glad she didn’t give any guy a second look but as it turns out.. The guys weren’t the only one on the hunt.. But the girls as well especially Deborah… Immediately she heard Christen and I had broke up.. She decided to make her move on me… And like Christen, I told her off.. But the persistent b*tch wouldn’t let me be.. The more I pushed her away.. The more she came after me..

I caught Christen a number of times stealing glances at me and Deborah and from the look on her eyes.. She was jealous as hell.. But she never made any attempt to interfere..So to ease her mind.. I pushed Deborah away and ignored her advances.

But things at Campus weren’t as bad as what was happening in Ibadan.. A few days ago.. There have been death tolls rising unexpectedly… People were dying and the worst part, there was nothing to show the cause of their deaths.. Ibadan was at its darkest hour and things were getting worst and worst..

Due to this mysterious plague.. The state government had ordered the citizens to be under curfew to avoid movements in the night but Despite that. People were still dying.. My father was having a difficult time at the hospital and my mom was going to churches frequently to pray to God for protection and deliverance.. Lionel too was on lockdown.. He was no longer chatting with his chicks since this chaos began.. As for me.. I spend my time reading cause our final examinations was on the corner.. When I wasn’t reading, I would write down the experiences I’ve had with Christen and the knowledge I’ve gotten about the witches.. At first I had the desire to publish it when I was done but i realized that would be like exposing the witches existence to the general public and besides no one would even believe anything I’ve wrote in this book without any proof or evidence.

I began to follow my mother to church to pray as well.. The only reason why I did that was to keep her company and there was nothing for me to do at home.. As I sat listening to pastor giving sermons, my mind drifted back to Christen, I wished she was right here next to me.. I had to look around and see if she was among these people but she wasn’t.. As I was busy scoping the place, my eyes met with Deborah’s… Oh how I hate her.. She quickly raised her hands waving at me but I hissed and turned around.. I just hope she isn’t going to disturb me..

An hour later, the church service was over, and I went outside to have some air.. I brought out Christen’s necklace and began rubbing and staring at it… I remember the spell she thought me but I was afraid I might get her into trouble, Just then as i was enjoying my peaceful moment.. Deborah showed up.

Deborah Hey , How’s the mass?

Riley Deborah.. For the last time leave me alone.. Okay..

Deborah Sorry I just wanted us to have a normal conversation that’s all…. What are you holding?

Riley It’s a necklace..

Deborah I see it has that illuminati sign on it.. You should get rid of it..

Riley No I won’t.. It’s a gift from Christen..

Deborah Get rid of it.. Imagine what your mother might say if she..

I’ve had enough of this girl.. I didn’t know when I slapped her hard across the face.. She yelped in pain as she covered her face with her hands.. Well she deserved it.. But before I noticed, the stupid girl snatched the necklace and threw it far away into a nearby trash pile.. It was dark at the time and searching for the necklace would be looking for a needle in a haystack..

I was so angry that I wanted to hurt and brutalise her but I maintained myself so as not to do anything stupid and regrettable, but I made sure she had gotten another resounding slap before I left the place..

I immediately went to where the trash pile was but as I got there, someone lit a fire on it and it began to burn… I stood as I watched the trash burning.. I was sure the necklace had melted already… But to my surprise, as I turned around to go, I felt something in my pocket, as I pulled it out, I saw it was the necklace.. I was shocked but I was glad it wasn’t damaged..

As I was about to go back to church.. Solomon appeared before me.. Looking a little bit angry.

Solomon You fool.. You’re lucky you made a blood bond with me.. How could you be so careless..

Riley I’m sorry Solomon.. I won’t let that happen again..

Solomon Well, something is about to happen.. That girl’s father.. Is about to hit on your mother..

Riley What? My mother would never do such a thing.

Solomon She won’t.. But he’s going to hypnotize her to do it..

Riley Hypnotize? Where are they now?

Solomon His office.. Better hurry…

I rushed there as fast as I can.. As I arrived there, I bursted into the office and saw what was going on.. Mom was on the table and her eyes were dazed as if she was being controlled by something, and as for the Fake bastard.. He was about to loose his belt.. He was shocked to see me so he tried to fool me.

Emmanuel Riley.. Uh.. Um… Your.. mother she just fainted..

Riley Fainted huh? Then why is your belt loose?

I rushed at him and punched him hard on his face.. He fell on the ground clutching to his face.. I followed him down and kept punching him, I made sure I gave him a good beating, after that I spat on the fool and gave him a warning..

I picked up my mom and helped her to the car, I drove her home and as soon as we got to the house, I laid her down on the bed…

Later as I was in my room, I was on my bed staring at Christen’s necklace.. I just missed her, so much.. Just as I was busy thinking about Christen… Solomon appeared again..

Solomon Drop that necklace before you misplace it..

Riley Let me be abeg.. This is the only thing I have that reminds of Christen.

Solomon Let her go.. She’s doing this so as to keep you safe.. It’s not like she had any choice.

Riley Solomon.. Have you ever been in love?

My arching heart pumped faster with happiness as I heard that.. I wore a sweater and 3quarter shorts and went out of the house.. The time was 11:30 pm, almost 30 mins to midnight.. I ran to the iroko tree as fast as possible as I arrived there.. I saw Christen..

She was standing absentmindedly staring into the sky.. Her back was turned towards me.. She didn’t even know I was behind her..

I noticed she wasn’t wearing any thick clothes, just a shirt and skintight stretch pant… So I removed my sweater, went up behind her and put it around her.. Christen reacted when she felt the sweater on her, hitting me hard across the face, the impact of her assault flung me a few meters away from her.. D--n.. She’s strong.

As she turned around, she was surprised to see me.. She regretted what she did and apologized.

Christen I’m sorry.. I didn’t know it was you.

Riley It’s okay.. I’m just glad to see you.. I’ve missed you terribly.

Christen Stop saying that okay.. Stop.. I’ve told you this thing is over between us. Stay away from me.

Arguing with christen would be a waste of time so I decided to make her a little bit jealous and make her stay a while longer.

Riley So That’s it.. You’re giving up? Deborah was right.. You never did love me..

Christen (angry) What did you just say ?

Riley You heard me..

As I expected Christen became jealous and angry.. She casted a body possession spell on me, controlling my body.. She made signs with her hands twisting my body in painful angles.

Christen was softened by what I said, she cancels her spell on me and turns around to go.. As I tried to follow her, she turns around and points out her finger striking a lightening blast close to my foot..

Christen Stay away from me, Riley.. Don’t make me do something, we’ll both regret.

Riley Is that so?

I ignore her and came closer towards her.. Christen struck another blast but it was powerful than the previous one but Despite that.. I didn’t stop coming towards her..
