“So why then didn’t you tell me you’re sick”

“Because i don’t want the shift looking empty sir”

“And why the sudden sir, sir, sir”

“I just felt like being formal with you sir”

“Please stop that and get back to work”

“Yes si-r”

He looked at me sluggishly and left

I was on the latest project being offered to the firm by a very prominent family..i checked whose family and guess what??.. It was Stephen’s family

“It’s a small world after all”

“Oh my jingles..maybe Stephen met Juan here at this firm..love at first sight..Juan sef” i giggled

The other ladies stared at me in amusement..i just pretended i never laughed or noticed their presence

10 minutes later..Juan’s phone rang, it was Stephen.. My heart began to skip..i wanted to abort the call but the thought of my sister came to my memory..i picked

“Hello baby”

“Hi Ste-p..sweetheart”

“Where are you currently?”

“Am at work”

“Oh the firm?”

“Yes dear” i never knew when the word Dear slipped out

“Okay am coming over to pick you..i know you must be tired” i was anxious though

“Okay lov-e”

“Alright..see you soon”

The call ended

“Lord my world is over..Stephen will definitely find out”

I kept my cool and resumed work still thinking like a wild dog in search of bone

When work was almost over, it didn’t take up to 5 minutes and Stephen called again that he was waiting outside as if he was timing me

I quickly rounded up and alerted my boss that am done for the day and he permitted me to go

I got outside still walking trying to figure out who Stephen was since there were other guys waiting outside for their ladies..it was as if i was in a motel ready to be picked by a total stranger..my eyes were all over going left and right..i was confused until he called waving across the road in a direction

I crossed over and he threw his arms around me while i stood stagnant..

We got into his car and we drove off

He was staring at me almost every minute “Darling what’s wrong?”

“Nothing”
