Cont’d from Last Scene

Dr. Emma: Yes, what Dr. Evbagharu just said is true. We alternated our stay with Ebuka. It was until Ebuka picked up that we were able to leave him at home. He started showing signs of improvement and we were happy, we were proud of our experiment, but just when we wanted to tell the world that he was alife that was on the 2nd of october he deteriorated. He deteriorated so badly that he went back to square one of his health problem, this time the gunshot’s wound had started to eat his liver. We wanted to abandon him and leave him like that but on a second thought we decided to continue our humanitarian work. We cut off the part of his liver that had the wound, the part was vestigial of the injury, so we removed it so that it wouldn’t spread to the important parts.

The day before yesterday was the peak of his improvement,he was able to walk,talk and do things on his own,so we told him about everything that were happening at his supposed demise. He came here before we joined him from the hospital. Dr. Evbagharu’s house is not too far from here.

Inspector Etuk: (surprised) That means you guys just brought a dead man back to life,forget your Medical Vocabs. You want to say you just brought a deaf man to life. That is impressive. But what you did was risky, this woman would have been killed by now for a capital offence not knowing it was attempted murder not actual murder itself.

Ebuka: I beg your pardon, Mr. I.G, it’s not a matter of Capital crime or attempted murder. My wife is innocent of all your charges. I don’t know how you guys manipulated the court’s judgement. Everything is just like a trance to me. I can’t believe my Emilia went through all this for me (Moves forward to where the inmates are tied to stakes,he begins to loose Emilia from the stake and no one stops him, he looses the pale Emilia and she hugs him tightly and goes nut in his arms as she jumps, dances and shouts like someone crazy. She does not say anything because words can’t express her feelings. The spring that her eye formed said it all, brooks of tears of tears of joy flowed from her eyes. Ebuka couldn’t hold his joy of being in Emilia’s presence once again as he also shedded tears of joy. The policemen & other inmates whose death hours had been extended due to the sudden drama watched them in admiration. Dr. Evbagharu and Dr. Emma were real heroes and they were proud of their achievements.

Inspector Etuk: Mr. Ebuka would you please leave Emilia alone so that she would go back to the cell,due to this discovery we would need to do other investigations before letting her go.

Ebuka: Mr. I.G my wife is innocent and she is not spending any other day in this d--n cell or prison. She is leaving with me and that is final. (Holding Emilia more tightly).

Inspector Etuk: I’m afraid Mr. Ebuka what you’re saying can’t be followed,it’s the law.

Ebuka: I don’t give a shit, it’s either i’m leaving with my wife or you kill me (Runs to the stake where Emilia initially was and starts tying himself). Shoot me! Shoot me! It’s either you shoot me or you allow me take my wife.

Emilia: Ebuka stop it, stop it! I can stay till then, i promise i won’t get hurt. Just be patient,all this we soon be over. (Ebuka leaves there hugs Emilia tightly and later leaves with Dr. Emma and Dr. Evbagharu).

JOWELL BEACH, VICTORIA ISLAND.
The beach is very busy and the security guard of the back-gate is warding cars that are entering and leaving the beach. He is a dark young guy of about 25-30 years. On his right hand is a Security Wand which he uses to scan for metallic weapons. He sits down on his seat brings out a ‘Sporting-Life Newspaper’ and begins to read. He is always less busy than the security guard at the front- gate because only special & secretive people go through the back-gate. The name of the security guard of the back-gate is Enebuwa. As he is still reading, his friend visits him at his duty post. His friend’s nick-name is Energy.

Energy: Enebuwa, how far nah? This one you are reading newspaper.(Theyshake hands).

Enebuwa: Guy i dey oh, Energy you no go believe am oh. Imagine Man-city lost their Match to that small team.

Energy: Nna men, dem f--k-up oh, i been think say dem go win, na only Aguero try. Silva, Kompany and Toure’ just dey play nonsense. Na for my Landlord house i even watch the match.

Enebuwa: What’s up?

Energy: I dey cool, but wetin i dey hear? Dem talk say that guy wey dem been kill for here no die. Say na yesterday wen dem be wan kill him wife he show face.

Enebuwa: Energy, the thing weak me oh, i come surprise. (Brings out a BB Bold 9700/ Bold 2 from his pocket) Guy you see dis my phone i don dey use for 4 years, wey una go dey Yab me, one think i like for the phone na the camera. If i show you dis picture you go surprise, na this people i dey suspect kill the guy before or dey connected with the attempted murder.

Energy: (Opens his eyes wide) Enebuwa show me nah. Make i see.
