Barrister Efosa was under the cashew tree,sitting on a bench discusssing with the Ekun family.

Barrister Efosa: The great Ekun (Hails him).

Mr.Ekun: Efolistic Efosa(Hails him too).

Barr.Efosa: The great Ekun.

Mr.Ekun: Efolistic Efosa. (They shake hands). Efosa i really missed you oh,how is Benin-city?

Barr.Efosa: Benin dey kampe oh,Mrs.Ekun i’m greeting oh.

Mrs.Ekun: Good afternoon sir,how is your family?

Barrister Efosa: They’re fine,Emmanuellahow are you?

Emmanuella: I’m fine sir,Good afternoon sir.

Mr.Ekun: (Clears his throat) Barrister i want to thank you for honouring my call. You see my daughter Emilia is in a deep trouble.

Barr.Efosa: What are friends for? Trouble,how? During our phone conversation,you just said you were in crisis but you couldn’t go into detail.

Mr.Ekun: My brother,do you remember one Ebere Ekene during our UNN days.

Barrister Efosa: Wait oh! Is it that troublesome law student,she was my coursemate nah! What happened?

Mr.Ekun: My eldest daughter eventually got married to her son,i didn’t consent at first but after much pestering from my wife,Emilia and Emmanuella. I agreed,the guy was murdered in their honeymoon by an uknown figure,now my daughter is being detained as the culprit. She would be tried in court on the 16th. (Frowns).

Mr.Eze’s house

Eric was watching T.v in the living room before his mum approached him.

Eric: Mummy,why are you frowning?

Barr.Ebere: Why won’t i frown,when i have just one son left ?

Eric: Mummy don’t talk like that,i would surely make you proud?

Barr.Ebere: I hope so my son,you are going back to school tomorrow right?

Eric: No,not again,ESUT is on strike,i’m tired of this strike of a thing.

Barr.Ebere: Okay,my fear is that this strike shouldn’t last long oh.

Eric: I pray so,en hen! Mummy i heard that on the 16th Emilia would be tried in court.

Barr.Ebere: Yes but your father was telling me not to be part of the prosecuting council that day?

Eric: And did you listen to him?

Barr.Ebere: I’m not a fool,your father is the irresponsible one,how would he tell me to back off from a case like that when it’s clear that Emilia murdered my son?

Eric: That’s why i like you mum,Emilia must suffer and die for killing my brother (sobs).

Back to Mr.Ekun’s house.

Barr.Efosa: Ha! Ekun you didn’t tell me your daughter was getting married.

Mr.Ekun: It’s not my fault,i didn’t know you were stilll using that phone number?

Barr.Efosa: I’m still using it,i lost it before but later retrieved it,this is a very difficult case,what about the finger-print analysis?

Mrs.Ekun: (with tears in her eye) It showed that Emilia was the murderer but i feel that Emilia is innocent.

Barrister Efosa: Osanobua! How is that possible,i need to concentrate in looking for points to defend her oh,because i know that Ebere would definitely be in the prosecuting coumcil. My brother this case is very hard.

Mr.Ekun: Please do your best,you are the only person rely on,My daughter is innocent,just tell me how somebody who was crying and begging me to allow her marry Ebuka,Ebere’s son would kill him in their honeymoon.

Barr.Efosa: I would try my best.
Emmanuella: Thank you sir!
