The birthday murder - Season 1 - Episode 8

I sat in my office, contemplating on what actions to take. Joy has already briefed on how far they have went in the investigation and even that is not helpful also because they have literal paused the investigation when i was arrested.


I had to start somewhere, so called my partner telling her to grab her side arms that we are heading to the bar, where the body was found and speak with the management, who knows we might be lucky.

We arrived at the bar and were ushered in to speak with the manager.


Me: good morning sir(i greeted)


Manger: morning please have sit


Me: sir, i am jack and this is joy my partner where are from the MCIU, and we have few question to ask you and few things to look at


Manager: i knew, am mark, and you will be having our full co-operation in this investigation.


Me: thanks

I brought a small recording device and put it own, i pulled out my pen and paper and joy did the same simultaneously.(the reason for recorder is for the purpose of captivating every words spoken.



Me: sir, please can you kindly tell us where you were on the night of the murder?


Mark: i was here in my office, going through some files.

Me: and when the you leave the building.


Mark: i left around in the after the you guys took the body away.

Me: when did you become of the victims body on your property?

Mark: an employee came to tell me about it at around roughly 11:45 pm.


Me: according to autopsy, the victim was murdered at around 10:55 pm, how come no body saw the body?


Mark: well most customers leaving around that time must have tipsy and also the garage has no powerful light, also the area where the body was found is highly secluded.

This is really going to tough and fun, i reasoned.


Me: but the schematic of garage that we have here……(i said pulling a paper and unfolding it)…..shows that the garage has powerful light here, here and her.

I said why pointing at the positions, i maintain eye contact trying to see if his emotions would betray him and give us a clue on but he remained calm


Mark: you are right but those light are off firing the night to leave our customers with kind of intimacy, i hope you understand what i meant?

I nodded my head because he was actually talking about s-x, and i couldn’t blame him, because some customers would like to hv a quickly before going home and the garage would be a nice suitable place for them.


Me: thanks Mr mark. I would like to speak with the employee that found the body and also go through your tapes of that esp the ones ranging from 9 till 12 midnight.


Mark: no problem.

He picked up his phone and spoke into it for some minutes and then ended the call.


Mark: you can view the tapes now but the employee that discovered the body is not presently here but i would give you his address.

Hw tore a piece of paper and wrote the address and gave it to me. He stood and told us to follow him.

In a minute we were in the control room, and was viewing the tapes. I couldn’t believe my eyes, most fo the cameras were off and the few that were on was showing nothing serious. The cameras at gate was temporary off as of 10:30 till 11:30 pm, my best guess, that was the times our guy came in.


Me: please pull the cameras in the of the garage.

The cameras were pulled on and i thank my stars because it was working but the frustrating part of was that it was showing nothing serious. I had to pull up the cameras of inside the building, and then i saw john, when he was drinking, i asked the pull the camera of the elevator but it had nothing on it, i watched my guy(john) as he was drinking and then i was about to lose hope, i noticed something, my guy got and left, i pulled up pther cameras and found him in toilets. I saw him left the toilet, passed through th passage, entered the bar again and headed to his corner, but as he passed the last the camera and i pulled the camera that was initially focused on his corner, i noticed that the camera has shifted a bit and it no longer covers the seat that he was seating very well, i checked the time and it was 10:30 pm. I become alert immediately, i told them to pulled other cameras both none of was showing john again till the video ended.


Me: i need to speak with whoever was in this room on the night of murder.


Employee: it was Donald’s s--t.


Mark: what?(suprised)
I was the showed at the sudden outburst and asked him what going on.


Mark: Donald was the same employee that informed me of victims body.


Me: are you sure?

Mark yes ofcourse….
