Fire God Of The Fire Island - Season 1 - Episode 3

Friendship Like Candlelight a
Stepping out of the Council Chambers, Kate offered a small smile to Elder Fudo, who of which had spent the rest of the meeting glancing sideways at her with a concerned gaze. The elder was worried about her, he being only a few to realize that Kate did not like to be reminded of her fate over and over again, especially in such a callous manner.

Still Kate tried to reasure the older man that she wasn’t upset with her remarks, even though she was certain the elder didn’t believe her for a second. After her ‘Confrontation’ with Kira, the meeting progressed as usual, Kira all but ignoring her with an occasional remark subtly thrown at her direction. It made the meeting uncomfortable for all involved. Even more so when they realized that there was virtually nothing they could say or do to stop such appealling behaviour of their Princess.

And didn’t she know that?

“Lady Kate”, A gentle voiced called out, pulling her from her thoughts. “Good Morning”.

Looking up, Kate felt a genuine smile touch her lips as one of her few cherished friends appeared before her, casting a gentle as ever gaze over her. “Oh, Laura, good morning”, she greeted in return.

Laura Krish had been her friends for as long as she can remember; they grew up together at the Fire Temple, her father a Head Priest at the time. She was one of only a very few that didn’t treat her like she was the Peace Keeper and nothing else. Although, she does call her Lady like everyone did for her role in life, but Laura didn’t do it in such a way that reminded her of her fate. Laura treated everyone with respect and simply treated her kindly like if she were her younger sister.

Still there were some days that Kate, felt somewhat small when she was in Laura’s presence, which would only make Laura feel absolutely terrible if she ever confessed it. She was modest to a fault and would punish herself if she ever thought that someone was questioning themselves in her presence.

Though, how could anyone not question themselves? She was so tall.

Laura had long, slightly messy black hair that seemed to shimmer like black satin under the light of the sun. It reached the small of her back with shorter bangs framing her face, enhancing her bright ruby eyes that were always filled with warmth and compassion.

Her regal clothes were white in colour with black and gold trimming. Her robe had long sleeves, the outer jacket touching the floor, left to fall freely and loosely over her lithe frame, tied simply by a buckle at her collar bone. Under the robe she wore a simple pair of black pants with black boots.

She walked, no, glided with such grace, which such poise, it left no question that she was the most strongest talented Fire Priestess presently residing within the Fire Temple.

Laura was truly a beautiful person, both inside and out, kind, generous, respectful and friendly, she was also somewhat motherly, taking the time to look after and care for anyone and everyone around her.

Kate really looked up to her, she was everything she wished she could be, but know she will never achieve.

“How did the Council meeting go?”
Laura asked with sincere interest and with a subtle sense concern as Kate moved to walk next to the slighty taller girl.

Kate winced at the question. “Not too good, I’m afriad”, she replied sombrely.

“Oh, I see”, Laura murmured, sounding solemn and distraught on her behalf. “Don’t be too hard on yourself, Lady Kate”, Laura said with a comforting voice. “Princess Kira is an overbearing leader, I’m sure if you had continued questioning any of her decisions she would have done whatever is necessary just to prove you wrong”.

“Yes, I know”.
Kate sighed as she rubbed a hand over her face, feeling weary all of a sudden. “I just….nothing”.

“Lady Kate…..”
Laura whispered softly under her breath, her porcelain features creasing into a look of concern. Her frown soon cleared through, being replaced with her usual expression of parental affection. “Why don’t we go have something to eat? I bet you are hungry, right? You didn’t have breakfast again this morning did you?”
Kate blushed at being caught out. “Ah, well…”

“Then come”,
Laura said as she hooked her arm through hers, patting the back of her hand as she continued to smile. “I’ll make you something”.

The blush adorning Kate’s cheeks grew deeper in shade, a small sense of guilt gnawing at her chest. Laura was always fussing over her, not that she minded the attention, but really Laura must have other more important things to do?

“There’s no need for that”,
Kate said hurriedly.

“But I want to”, Laura retorted before Kate could say anything about herself-worth and continued to smile that disarming smile of hers, tilting her head to the side cutely in question. “Is that all right?”

In all honestly, there was no way Kate could ever say no to Laura “….Alright then”.
