Me:” Joy, how on earth did you get my number?” I asked surprised.


Joy:” am a witch now” she replied carelessly

Me:” Am serious” I said angrily, I was obviously angry with her.

Joy:” Should I say that’s my secret” she said laughing, I was now growing impatient.


Me:” Are you telling me or not?”


Joy:” OK, I checked your Facebook account, that was the main reason I was asking you if you got a middle name but to my surprise you used your original names, meanwhile have sent you a friend request better go and accept it.” She said laughing

Me:” OK”


Joy: ” It that all what you will say? OK?” She asked

Me:” What else should I say?”


Joy:” Gabi you are weird”


Me:”OK” I replied again.


Joy:” I know all this was because I told you I got a boyfriend, anyways I was just pulling your legs, I got none”


Me:” OK” I replied again although I was happy inside me. She did not say anything again which made me look at my phone screen to see if she had hung up but no, she was still there.


Me:”OK, joy, am sorry” I said at last breathing heavily.

Joy:” OK” she replied


Me:” like am serious now, am really sorry” I said again.


Joy:” Ok”

Me:” Am serious please”


Joy:” OK” she said again.

Me:” OK bye”

Joy:” Bye” she said and put an end to the call. I threw the phone across my bed and made to sleep but I could not. I stared at my phone again and it was trying to say ” Pick me and call her”. I tried ignoring but I soon found my hand stretching towards the phone, dialed her number and placed it on my ear, note my hands were the one doing it o.


Joy:” Gabiiii!!!” She screamed as she picked the phone


Joy:” I thought you were stubborn, that you won’t call again but there you are calling” she said laughing while I smiled


Joy:” I won you ”

Me:” I Just called to apologize, am s…” She interrupted me.

Joy:” Hey am not angry with you okay” she said laughing.

Joy:” And moreover why were you jealous?” She asked and I tried defending myself.


Me:” I was not jealous,, moreover, I was lying to you, I got a girlfriend, was just pulling your legs earlier at school today.” I lied and I watched God take my fight for me, her voice changed instantly.

Joy:” Gabi, so you got a girlfriend, you lied to me, yo…u” her voiced cracked as she spoke angrily.


Me:” Am sorry joy and moreover I didn’t lie, u never ask if I got one, are you angry?” I asked as I smiled where I was.

Joy:” No am not am okay” she said trying to be cheerful but her tone was still that of anger.


Me:” OK, am sorry”


Joy:” OK bye, an feeling sleepy now” she said trying to put an end to the call.

Me:”Yeah, sleepyyy, that was exactly how I felt when you lied to me that you got a boyfriend, I was not jealous or angry, I only felt sleepy like you. Anyways am joking, I gat no girlfriend” I said laughing hard, I heard her breathe out before speaking.


Joy:” Gabriel, you know what?” She asked laughing.

Me:” What?” I asked in between my laughter.

Joy:” I hate you” she said still laughing

Me:” And I love you Joy.”


Joy:” Hmmm” she signed, which was followed by some moment of silence.


Joy:” I love you too” she finally said . At that moment I knew my smiles could cut across my ears, I had this feeling of happiness deep down, I can’t explain how I felt, in was just feeling somehow.


Joy:” OK bye, we talk tomorrow at school ” she said again.

Me:” OK dear, bye” I replied happily while I put an end to the call and then threw the phone up to the ceiling in happiness which landed on my sister’s head who was just opening the door to come into my room. It must have pained her as she hissed and went out again.

The night was a sweet one as I saw myself smiling in my sleep, I did not know what it was but some part of me kept on telling me its called ” Love” I slept happily and woke up as early as six the next morning, I had never been this happy. Unlike the previous day, I took my bath happily, ate my food and dressed up not forgetting my glasses, it seemed to fit in properly today. I ran along to school leaving my sister behind, I was full of joy, I greeted anyone that cared to listen to my greetings until I got to the school premises. I was the first to arrive in my class and I sat down in anticipation of Joy, I brought out a book and pretended to be reading, my eyes were on the book but I was seeing joy in it. About ten minutes later a fair girl entered, she was my class mate, she looked at me and smiled mischievously as she approached , her name is Sandra.


Sandra:”Hey, should I call you lover boy or new boy?” She asked with a straight face. I began feeling somehow, I Dont know if I was scared of this girl.
