The doctor stood there looking confused, he called on his nurses who quickly rushed into his office, the male nurses tried holding down Gabriel who was behaving mad, the doctor placed his stethoscope on the Mr Alex’s chest and then turned to the nurses, ” He is also dead.” He said as tears also fell down his eyes, by now the male doctor had succeeded in holding Gabriel who was still struggling hard. They took him to a ward and injected him, almost immediately, he slept off. The male doctors later came back to prepare Mr and Mrs Alex body to be kept in the mortuary.
Cold was the night, noise of crickets could be heard clearly in Bushes around Francis house, it was a very cold night indeed. Inside the house, Francis could be seen packing his belongings into a bag, a travelling bag to be precise. The video recorder was on the table, he picked it and kept in a briefcase, not the travelling bag. The briefcase was a brown one, it has the tag HP power on it, it was a portable briefcase. ” I won’t allow Gabriel call the police on me, its better I run away from here as soon as possible than allow him implicate me ” Francis said to himself as he packed more of his belongings Into the bag. He arranged them neatly and kept them in a room, he was obviously going to travel anytime soon.
Dr Jason Hugine, his wife, Joshua his first son, Eunice his second daughter, Cynthia, his fourth child and Desmond his last born alighted from the car, they had come all the way from Ogun state to Benin city, they had actually came to check on Joy, their future daughter inlaw. But on getting there, they were shocked to hear about the death of Mr and Mrs Alex and also that Gabriel, Dr Jason son was receiving treatment. ” This is tragedy ” Dr Jason said forcing himself not to cry, the nurse were trying hard to hold Mrs Hugine who was now rolling herself on the ground with Cynthia. Desmond and Eunice although were also shedding tears but not to the point of rolling on the ground, Joshua wasn’t crying, he just stood there consoling his siblings, he was the eldest of them all. ” please let me see their bodies ” Dr Jason said and a nurse led him to the ward were the corpse of Mr and Mrs Alex were kept to be taken to the mortuary. On seeing them, tears also fell off his eyes.
Take care of them Doctor, I will pay anything you ask for.” Dr Jason said as he stared at the corpse of his future in-laws. ” Where is my son and his fiance?” Dr Jason asked still staring at the corpse. ” They are in ward 225 ” the doctor said and walked to the door, Dr Jason followed him. They entered into the ward , there were only two beds in it, on one of the beds was joy lying lifelessly, on the other was Gabriel, his eyes was opened but by the look of things he wasn’t conscious of his surrounding. ” The girl is suffering from temporary memory loss sir while the boy’s condition is just a result of mere shock, he will be okay soon” the doctor said to Dr Jason who just stood at the same spot saying nothing, he was looking at his future daughter in-law who eyes was shut but fresh tears were falling from them, on the other side was his son whose eyes was open but knows nothing of what is happening at that time. ” Will she be able to get her memory again?” He asked the doctor and he nodded, ” if you try remind her of things of the past she might just be able to get back her memory. ”
The doctor said and left Dr Jason in the ward with Gabriel and Joy.

” So at last we got the idiot that took our recorder, he was the second guy in the lab that night, his fingerprint was exactly the one we got at the spot where the recorder was that night. The next step now is to watch the man secretly, watch all his movement, we are now part of his family members, we must get back that recorder at all cost because the boss is angry ” John said as they sat down as usual round a big table. He continued to ginger them up to take down Francis. According to him, the boss is always angry. At the end of their discussion, Nath and another guy Cand were assigned to watch every movement of Francis, and also to truly confirm if he was with the recorder before sending him to his ancestors.

” Young Carl, I hope you are preparing for your Journey?” Akpan asked him Carl, he had sent for him earlier. ” Yes sir, am set to leave in three days time.” Young Carl replied. Young Carl is a young detective who works under the senior detective Akpan, his name isn’t actually young Carl but simply Carl for short or Carlisto for long. The “Young” was added to it because he was actually the youngest and smartest of his mates. Once he had been able to hack the software of some terrorist who once disturbed the peace of Akwa Ibom city, the surprising thing about him hacking into their software was that he wasn’t even a computer literate. With that they were able to bring the terrorist to book and they faced justice. ” Young Carl” Akpan called as Carl stood with his legs open and his hand at his back. ” Sir ” he replied. ” Your mission there is to go to the headquarters over there and get that briefcase, I know you, you might start chasing after woman when you get there.”

Akpan said smiling, Carl also smiled. [/b]” Sir, I don’t chase girls anymore ” [/b]Carl replied him. Actually, that was the bad side of Carl, he is actually so addicted to women. Once upon a time five girls had come to the office just to fight for him, and according to Carl, he had nothing to do with them, he had said his girlfriend stays abroad. ” Wow that is good news, you mean you don’t flirt with girls anymore?” Akpan asked smiling. ” Yes sir, I am changed ” Carl replied him also smiling. ” Okay then you can go ” Akpan said as Carl immediately turned to go. ” Young Carl” Akpan suddenly called while Carl turned immediately. ” You don leave that Kemi girl?” Akpan asked him in pidgin English, a type of English common to the people of Akwa ibom. ” Oga I don leave am o, the girl too dry, na Linda go make sense now ” Carl replied also in pidgin English, he was smiling, actually Carl always Smile whenever he was discussing on girls. ” Carl, I thought you just told me you have stopped flirting with Girls?” Akpan asked laughing while Carl bowed his head, he was short of words.

Mrs Hugine rushed into the ward, alongside her was Eunice, Cynthia, Joshua and Desmond. Dr Jason was still there standing and doing nothing, he was trying hard not to weep. ” Who did this to my son?” She asked no one in particular as she ran to the bed Gabriel was lying on. She stayed there with him and cried for some minutes, she then went over to Joy’s side and continued with the weeping. ” They want to kill my children for me o” she shouted as she continued to cry. Joshua and Desmond went over to where Joy was lying, Eunice and Cynthia went to where Gabriel was. ” Gabriel, can you hear me?”

Eunice asked as she sat holding Gabriel’s hand, she knew her question was foolish, and knew Gabriel won’t be able to hear her,she was only desperate and sorrowful. ” I can hear you ” Gabriel suddenly replied as he sat up from the bed immediately, Eunice ran back a little, they were all shocked. His eyes were red and he was looking rough. ” I can’t see a thing, where are my glasses?” He asked as he rubbed his eyes, ” Take mine ” Desmond his youngest brother said as he handed over his glasses to him, they were actually suffering from the same eye ailment, but unlike Desmond, Gabi own was more critical. He took the glasses from Desmond and wore it, it didn’t fit well and he adjusted it into place. ” Better ” he said. ” My son!!! ” Mrs Hugine shouted as she hugged him, Eunice, Cynthia, Joshua and Dr Jason weren’t left out as they also hugged him. ” Gabriel hope you…” Dr Jason wanted to say but was interrupted. ” Dad am fine. ” Gabriel replied him as he adjusted his glasses again. He then stood up and went towards Joy side of the bed, it wasn’t as if something happened to him, he was walking fine and looking fit. He walked to joy and carried her hands up, ” They will surely pay ” He said to himself before turning to his parent.
