” Doctor, you mean…” He was trying to say but his tears won’t let him. He sat on the floor with tears dropping down his eyes, ” Doctor, please let me see her” Gabriel said as he got up and followed the doctor who walked into the ward where joy is, she was unconscious and lying lifeless, there was a bandage on her head and blood stain on it. ” You see, the accident affected this part if her brain, according what we discovered, the taxi she took was smashed by a truck, this happened about two days ago. We had been tying to get in touch with any member of her family but all to no avail but thank God we got you this night. ” The doctor said as he touched a part of Joy’s head banded with bandage. ” Doctor, can’t you do something like a brain surgery or so?” Gabriel asked. ” No, we can only allow the memory come back itself. ” The doctor said, ” But we can go ahead and treat those we can treat” the doctor said again. ” Yeah you can go ahead, I will take care if all the bills. ” Gabriel said as he sat down on the bed where Joy was lying, the doctor nodded and went out. ” I promise, they will all pay for this” Gabriel swore as he held Joy’s hand and tears dropped from his eyes again.

” Sir a crime happened in Benin city about two nights ago,and we were able to get the fingerprints of the criminals, we only need to confirm if you aren’t the criminal ” a police office told a man whose house they had entered that afternoon with a thumb printing machine. ” Oh, that is really wonderful, Nigeria is now becoming a better place.” The man said as he place his hand on the thumb printing machine, it gave a red signal which indicated his thumb print didn’t match with the one of reference. “you aren’t the suspect sir ” The police man said and left with his boys in which John and Nath are part but disguised themselves as policemen.
This was the sane exercise going on in Francis’s house at that particular time, but unlike the first man, Francis, thumb print gave a green sign which indicated he was the suspect. ” You are not the suspect sir ” A police man said to him while Francis smiled. ” I told you I am a law abiding citizen. ” Francis said shaking hands with them as he escorted them to the gate. ” Call the others to stop the exercise, the guy has been gotten ” the group leader said to his group guys as he left Francis house.


” Arrrrrrrghhhhhh” Charles shouted as he struggled in the cylinder where he was being embedded, he was pushing hard but the cylinder didn’t give away. ” The mad man has started again ” Scientist James said to himself as he watched Charles struggled in the cylinder.

Gabriel was still with Joy in the hospital, she had not woken up or even shook any part of her body since he was with her, she just remained how she was. The most surprising thing was that Joy’s parent or even his parent haven’t heard of this, and he wasn’t ready to inform them. Twice the doctor had come to him to ask him to put a call through to Joy parent but he disagreed, but he also had no choice, her parents have to know about what had befallen them. He had promised the doctor he would inform them the next day. ” God, please save me” Gabriel prayed silently to himself as he held Joy’s hand and kissed it, tears dropped from his eyes again. He soon slept off in his thought of how life had been cruel to him, he slept while seating on a chair.
Desmond Hugine is the last child of Dr Jason Hugine and his wife, Desmond has a huge stature and looks very handsome, he is always distinguished by his ever falling eyeglass which he is always adjusting, he happens to be the most intelligent senior student in the whole of Mr.Green Academy, Ogun state. ” Hugine, come here ” Mrs Peterson the principal of Mr Green college called as she saw Desmond walking into the school compound that morning. ” Here i am ma” he said to her as he adjusted his glasses. ” please, go to the library and tell the librarian to give you the remaining testimonials of the students who graduated 14 years ago, one of those graduands is here, he wants to use it to secure a Job.” She said to Desmond as she stood in front of her office, inside the office was a well built man, his name is Gaga Ojo, he was actually among those student that graduated 14 or 15 years ago, he was a senior to the now renowned Scientist Gabriel Hugine, he was actually three sets before Gabriel’s sets. ” Okay ma” Desmond said as he walked to the library and delivered the message. The librarian handed him a file containing 12 testimonials, only 20 student graduated that year, 8 has taken theirs and the remaining twelves are awaiting their owners. Desmond rushed to the principal office so as to give her the stuff, but just along the way one of the testimonials fell down. He ignored it and went to deliver the rest first, he then came back to take the one which had fallen. He was about going to give it to the principal when Nurse Fagbile, the school nurse stopped him on the way. ” Desmond, go and call me Jack from the Sss 1 class. ” the nurse told him and Desmond ran along, he had forgotten he wanted to go and deliver something to the principal, he later kept the testimonial in his bag hoping to give it to the principal later but he never remembered, he took the testimonial home that day and mistakenly kept it in his drawer.


Detective Akpan drove home happily that day, he was still feeling the waist pain but was still happy to come back to his “machine” wife. ” Honey am home” he shouted as he entered through the parlour door, as usual iniobong was in the kitchen. He went to the kitchen and first admired her massive backside as he stared at her from behind, he finally hugged her when he was tired of staring. ” welcome honey, hope you are prepared for this night?” She asked him smiling, Akpan knew if what happened last night should repeat itself again, he would be a dead man. ” No, I am not done from work yet, I came to take a file” he lied to her. ” okay ” she replied him as she drew him romantically to the dinning to eat his meal, immediately Akpan sat down, she rushed to the door and locked it, keeping the key in her jeans pocket. ” let now see how you go out. ” she told him while Akpan stared at her in disbelief. ” Father please forgive me my sins” he prayed as he took the first spoon of the rice which had been prepared for him by his wife, to him, today was his death day.
It was a new day and a bright morning in the beautiful Benin city,the sun shone into the open windows of the University of Benin teaching Hospital, it was most in the ward where Gabriel was with Joy. Joy hadn’t still moved, Gabriel had already called and informed her parents, he had also informed his own parent also. About twenty minutes later, a car entered into the hospital, it belongs to the Alexs, Joy’s parent. Another interesting connection between Mrs Alex, Joy’s mother and Gabriel was that Mrs Alex was his English teacher during the days of his Junior Secondary. Then, he hadn’t even known Joy. He only knew Joy when he changed school. Mr Alex and Mrs Alex rushed to the doctor’s office, fortunately for them, Gabriel was also there discussing with the doctor. ” Welcome dad, welcome mom” He greeted his future in-laws, the doctor also shook hands with them. ” what happened to my daughter?” Mrs Alex asked looking restless and refusing to seat down even after her husband’s persuasion to do so. ” calm down ma ” the doctor said but unfortunately she wasn’t ready to calm down. ” The thing is that the accident was so bad and it affected her brain, right now, she is suffering from Temporary Memory loss” The doctor explained calmly to Mr Alex. Immediately, at that moment, Mrs Alex fell down to the floor, Gabriel and the doctor rushed at her, Gabriel lifted her head up and the doctor immediately placed his stethoscope on the left part of her chest to feel her heart beat, he looked up about some seconds later with teary eyes, ” She is dead ” he said slowly, at that moment, Gabriel tore off his cloth like a mad man and Mr Alex also fell off the chair.
