DESPERATE PLIGHT (Travails Of a hero ) - Season 1 - Episode 21

RICHARD’S RESIDENCE
SITTING ROOM
:
Richard stood speechless for some minutes. There was a deafening silence in the room and the only thing that could be heard was Jane’s sobs and the ticking of the clock.

Then suddenly, as the silence lingered on, the file fell from Richard’s hand and the contents spilled on the floor.

Richard swallowed hard and finally spoke up, “How did you find this out? I mean who told you about Lucy?” he asked.

“Lucy!” Jane said and stood up. “So, her name is Lucy?” she asked.

“How did you find this out?” Richard asked, trying to sound authoritative.

Jane hissed loudly, “I found it out from your village oracle,” she said and wiped her tears, then walked and stood infront of Richard. “Before his death, my father made me to understand that no man is worth my tears not even you, I have signed my part, sign yours and free me from your web and chains of hurt,” she said and with that walked out on him and headed to the room.

Richard stared after her beautiful curved shapes and wondered what he had seen in Lucy. “It’s true you don’t know the value of what you have till you’ve lost it or about loosing it. Could it be have lost Jane or am about loosing her?” he asked rhetorically and bent to stare at the divorce papers that scattered infront of him…

NIGERIA POLICE STATION
INSIDE THE CELL
:
Mike sat on a chair behind a table while the IG bent over the table infront of him. His thighs was full of scabs while his neck and other parts of his body was covered with wounds, iron rode marks and scabs that looked yellowish with pus underneath.

“Why don’t you want to tell us the reason behind your actions, it might help you a lot in the court when your case is being judged,” the IG said in a soothing voice.

“I don’t want to talk about it, am an orphan, and i don’t have siblings. I’m prepared to die,” Mike said bitterly.

Inspite of himself, the IG felt pity for him. He couldn’t utter another word, so he stood and stared at him in pity…

TEGA’S RESIDENCE
:
Tega and Lucy were seen in the room, exchanging words with each other. “Why are you bent on hurting me Lucy?” Tega asked as he sat on the edge of his bed with his head buried in his palms.

Lucy walked up to him and sat beside him, then placed a hand across his shoulders. “I’m sorry Tega but I’m inlove with this man. He makes me feel good,” she said.

Tega stood up almost immediately. “You love a married man?”
“Yes!”

“Then what about me? What about all that we shared? What about the promise Lucy?” Tega asked nonestop and broke down again, this time he cried like a child not minding he was a man.

Lucy felt bitter and hurt as she watched Tega cry. She loves him but how does she explain to Tega that she only wanted to use Richard coz he was rich, far way richer than he(Tega) himself.

She moved and squatted beside him, “Tega please try and understand. I’m doing this for our own good,” she pleaded.

“Understand what?” Tega fired and stood up. “Understand that you choosed to hurt and betray me after I had saved you from Thelma. Do you know how hurt I feel?” he asked and cleaned his face.

“I know Tega but you can’t just jump into conclusions coz you don’t the reasons behind my actions. I’m doing this for us Tega,” she said and made to hold him but Tega shrugged away her hands. “There is no us Lucy. There is no us till you accept to consider my feelings and act otherwise,” Tega shouted.

Lucy stood speechless. She had never seen Tega this furious before. It’s true their father’s were best of friends in their childhood days but they had both fallen inlove at first sight and had been close since then. They had even planned on getting married but there was not enough money.

“Do you know the huge debt am owing for just trying to save you in the battle field? Do you know the risk I took to get those animals just to defeat Thelma?” Tega asked again.

“Tega please calm down and hear me out,” Lucy pleaded again.

“No!” Tega barked. “Don’t tell me to be calm coz I won’t.”
Lucy sighed in despair and folded her arms. “Fine, so what are your plans now?”

“To kill Richard!” Tega fired in anger.

Lucy unfolded her arms in shock, “You are joking right?”

Tega chuckled. “No am not, am d--n serious,” he said and left the room, slamming the door behind him…
