Lawrence plotted their route and they agreed on their next rendezvous in Shagamu. As they set out Chido felt uneasy. He felt butterflies in his stomach but could decide why he felt so uneasy.

Their journey leaving lagos proved uneventful till they were almost outside lagos.

They saw a serious looking police check point with two squads of policemen maning it.

The police there were so mean looking that no one was sure what they were looking 4 or what the outcome would be.

It took almost 3 hours for their turn to reach.

As the lorry they were in drove onto the check point. One of the mobile policemen standin there said in a stern voice “hold it there!!”

They stopped. He asked them to pack by the side.
Then the pain stacking process of checking their car documents and that of the cargo began.

Lawrence proved to be quite resourceful here. He smooth talked the policemen and in no time was yearning up their DPO as if he had known him a long time.

The officer was so glad he was speaking to a reasonable person like Lawrence so he opened up and told Lawrence that they were looking for a group of hardened criminals that had stolen some cars in Seme and had killed a policeman in the line of duty.

Chido heard Lawrence reply him “ah Oga, do we look like those people u are looking 4”.

The man replied “no na! I am just saying.
This our job is dangerous. It just just few people like u that understand and appreciate what we are going thru and the government doesn’t not want to know. They don’t want to know”.
The officer said again opening his hands gesticulating in his attempt to explain.

By the time Lawrence was done with the man.
The officer hurried his boys and let em go after Lawrence had made him 60 k richer.

As they drove outside lagos on their way to Shagamu, Chido breathed a sign of relief.

Then again his uneasiness remained and he didn’t understand why.

Just before they arrived Shagamu one of the lorries had a blow out and so the entourage stopped to repair the busted tyre.

It took rather longer than expected but after some hours they were on their way again this time at a brisk pace.

Just before they arrived Shagamu they came unto another check point as always Lawrence talked his way thru flashing their forged way bills and car documents but then again all the policemen wanted were greens which they got.
