The others went back downstairs ate and drank while Chido tried to reach his Uncles and cousins. Any of his uncles he called would heap insults on him and tell him how irresponsible they thought he was.

His cousins promised though to help or atleast go but he still felt uneasy.

At the last straw he had no other option but out of desperation to call Grace and beg her to go to his mom.

He sent her the details via IM. She called him back and assured him she would leave first thing tomorrow morning. She then informed him that the strike has been called off and school authorities has asked all students to return immediately and conclude their exams.

Chido thanked her and joined the others in the warehouse since it was already 10 o’clock and they had all filed into the nearby warehouse where their transportation was waiting while Chido was making his frantic calls.

Chido felt numb. He was down cos he knew it was going to be difficult 4 him and his mom if anything happens to his dad.

He was numb, he had no feelings anymore.

He was scared 4 his dad, he felt dead of emtions.

He felt nothing….

On seeing his face, Ben enquired on what the problem was and after narrating to him Ben told him “concentrate on the job and finish it.
Don’t let anything distract u. Once the job is done, u can go anywhere of ur choice but not b4”.

There were so many posh cars packed in the warehouse and Lawrence chose the SSC Ultimate Aero.

It was a small car for 3 men to sq££ze into but once Lawrence switched the car on and screeched out Chido understood why he picked the car. The little devil of a car was a flying machine.

They set out driving but first had to reach the almighty Seme border. Lawrence told em it was going to be smooth sailing from where they were till Seme after which it may get risk.

The cars filed out in a very long entourage of about 25 posh cars.

They all drove with speed, style and gusto till they arrived Seme around 1 am, waited some kilometres away from the border while Lawrence called their contact.

About 10 mins later a military colored hilux pickup drove by and stopped across the road.

Lawrence stepped out as two very black faced hard looking men left the truck and walked across to them.

They greeted Lawrence with anticipation as he walked over to them. A short conversation and money changing hands left Lawrence standing alone again as the men drove away obviously very happy.

Lawrence stepped back into the car informed the other drivers on his walkie talkie and they were on their way.

They crossed Seme border without hassles, though only had to tip one of two custom guys that too interest in them.

Now as they drove at full speed toward Nigeria Lawrence decided to show his driving expertise.
After a few kilometres, the entourage took a fast detour into the forest and they drove at full speed for the next few hours.

Lawrence was quick to take bends, invariably showing how good he drove. All the while he drove he was talking with Chido and Ben as they listened to loud music of the car speakers.

As the lead car finally bursted out of the forest onto the road path there were already about 5 cars standing a few meters from the junction they bursted out from.

Then something interesting happened.

It happened as if by slow motion though the occurrences were all very fast in their own right.
