I stared at him and saw two beautiful dark eyes locking gaze with mine. I felt so overwhelmed to be tying the knot with this drop dead gorgeous man before me.

For he was my moon.
My sun; My life;
My love;
My knight;
My everything.

He was destined to be mine and I to be his, forever and always.

The ceremony began and for me it was smooth-flowing, emotional and solemn.

With the corner of my eyes, I saw my mom tapping her eyes with her handkerchief every now and then. I saw colleagues from the bank, I saw the attendants at Spices coffee shop, I saw Alex’s father, his mom and siblings in flesh and blood and then my eyes fell on James, dresed in a black suit and black spectacles. I quickly averted my gaze and looked at the man I was getting married to.

Who the hell had invited James? But I was happy he was there, to witness my wedding with someone that could treat me like an angel, more than I could ever imagine and deep down in my heart, I thanked God for not settling for less, for making that brave decision to break up with him, even after five years. When our eyes met, he shamefully bowed down his head and didn’t raise it up till he was sure I was not looking anymore.

Then it was time for us to say our vows and exchange rings. Alex’s cousin, Giovanni who also lived in the states with his parents stepped forward with the golden rings.

He opened the box and we both took our respective rings, I gasped as I held Alexander’s ring firmly between my fingers.

“Do you, Alexander Scott Akinlolu, take Adetola Shalewa Williams to be your lawfully wedded wife? Will you love,adore,cherish, protect and be with her for the rest of your life?”

“Yes, I will by the grace of God” he said, slipping the ring down my fourth finger of my left hand.
