I watched guests troop inside the church in groups. Some two’s, some three’s and some just walked alone inside the church. I became more and more nervous. My heart kept beating bam.. Bam.. Bam.. Wow, I was going to take my vows in front of these people? Some of them I knew, some of them I didn’t know.

I watched my other friends with the groomsmen walk through the pathway of the yard going to the chapel’s door.

With the bouquet made of lavenders and white roses in my hand, Felicia and Daisy helped me get down from the car and onto the wheelchair.
My mom got down from the car that brought her to the church too and thanked my friends. She told them to go inside that she would do the rest.
Then she began to wheel me down the aisle as soft music played from the speakers fixed to the walls of the church.

I felt butterflies in my belly when the seated congregation stood up and began to clap their hands. I wanted to cry so much but this was my day with Alex and I needed to be happy. It was a once in a lifetime day, it was my day.

I looked ahead and there he was… My Alex, My husband to be, standing by the alter.

There he really was, My heart, My love, My hope, My man in his deep blue tuxedo, standing by the alter and waiting for me. He had his eyes on me.
Completely fixed on me, I looked down and adjusted my gown, so that the large wheels won’t taint it.

When we were close, he extended his hand, we held hands and I felt his grip. that strong grip that made me feel secured and protected.
