“I want to know more about her” I loudly spoke so she could hear me. They had increased the volume of the music so it was difficult conversing with her without speaking loud enough for her to hear.

“What about me? Don’t you want to know me?” She asked, almost in an angry tone. “Relax, I’ll know you too but I want to know her first” “Her name is Kate. 300L Agricultural science, Unilag?” “Sorry? What’s unilag” I asked her, trying to rack my head but no idea came into my mind. I had spent 24 years of my life abroad so I wouldn’t know what she was talking about.

“Unilag na. University of Lagos” She yelled at me. “Hey, calm down. Can I get her digits please?” I waggled my eyelashes at her. I was very eager to know the lady more.

“And please, can you do me the favour of getting me a registered Nigerian number?
I don’t want to be calling using my international number” “On one condition”
a grin split her face, chasing away the crease that were in her brows all the while I was asking about her friend. “What’s the condition? I will do anything to get a Nigerian number and her digits too” I said and watched her as she chugged down litters upon litters of vodka.

“You will go on a date with me”
When she said I would go on a date with her, I was dumbstruck. It surprised me to my bones that a lady would think of asking me out on a date with her so I could get what I wanted.
I shrugged my shoulders and planned the date with her. She scheduled it for the next day. Since I didn’t know anywhere in Lagos then, she had promised to come pick me up at my hotel. Giving her the necessary details and directions,
I walked out on her and went outside to clear my head. All my life, I was never with a lady.

I focused on academics while in school. Being good looking, of course I got many advanced from ladies but I rejected all. I was determined to be dedicated to my career. I wanted to be successful and rich. But that very evening, I saw a lady that really got to me for the first time in my life. Her beauty, smiles, body, shape, lips, everything! I mean every damn thing got to me!

I really wanted to know her more, to make her my missing ribs so I set out on this supposed date with Mitch. Yeah, she had introduced herself to me as Mitch, probably from Mitchell. I wore an Italian designer shirt over black plane trousers and waited for this lady. Mitch came to pick me up in a red Volkswagen. How she got the car, I didn’t know. ‘Maybe she has it’ I thought. She was a big girl, she looked like one anyway.
She pulled in front of my hotel and horned twice.
I came out of the hotel looking as simple as anything.

“Hey handsome, you look good” she remarked alluringly, biting her lower lips.

A warm glow came over her eyes, like spring rain washing away the snow. “Thanks”.I remarked tersely. “Why are you not staying at your uncle’s house?” She asked. Her usual confident demeanor didn’t waver a bit. She was still that snooping, prying girl I met the previous night. “He is not my uncle. He is my pop’s friend” I replied, kind of irritated. ‘Are Nigerian girls always this nosy?’ I thought”What would you like to have handsome?”She asked me with lust obviously flared in her eyes. “Nothing.” I muttered and looked uninterested. “Here is it. A registered Globacom line” She handed over the sim pack to me and smiled. If only she knew how uglier and devilish she looked while smiling. She would never try smiling again.

I was beginning to get pissed with the whole thing. “Can I have her number please?” “Oh, Sure. Why not. Since you agreed to the condition, I have no choice than to stick to the agreement” She brought out her phone, clicked it open and gave me the number. I smiled and stood up, inserting my phone into my b0s0m pocket.

“And where do you think you are going to?” She gritted her teeth. A frown was etched in between her well arched brows.

“Watch me. Have a nice time dating yourself” I said firmly.I walked out of the restaurant and took a cab to my hotel. I had requested for an address card from the receptionist before her arrival.I had also changed my dollars into Naira notes at a bureau de change while coming from the airport.
Getting into my room, I locked the door and had a quick shower. I inserted my new nigerian sim into my phone and dialled the number she had given me, hoping with all my strength it would not be a wrong number. It rang for the first time with no response. I tried again, it was picked at the fourth ring.

“Hello!” A lady’s voice boomed into the mouthpiece.
