Abby couldnt believe that this horrible looking monster was actually her once handsome and fair skinned uncle.

Gilbert struggled with the broken mop on his hands as he tried moving to where Abby was. He heard her sob and felt pity for her. He regretted not leaving the country immediately. He regretted raping Maria. That had triggered everything.
He was suffering.

It was better he was killed than go through this hell of a torture. His left leg was broken and he had to depend on the broken mop for support.

The five fingers of his right hand was out. Blood gushed out of his every being. He pitied himself.

He didnt even wish this kind of torture for his enemies in the village.

His face was an eyesore. His lips were twice the size they were, eyes swollen, one of his ear had been cut.

Torture! If he had known he was going to be caught, then he would have tortured someone like this before killing the person. Maybe Kelvin or Collins.

He knew he was going to die but he made up his mind that before he does that, Abby would have to know the whole truth. Who her father and her grandparents were.

He had hid it from her for too long. But he knew that when she finally knew who her father was, it would break her heart. And if only she knew she had another sibling as well.

He walked up to her and she burst into tears ‘uncle why? Why?’
He didnt know if he should console her or get talking immediately. The girl was looking lean and unhealthy, like she hadnt been feeding fine and sleeping well. He didnt like that.

He was ready to suffer for the rest of his life but he didnt want that for Abby. She was too young to suffer.

Then he winced inwardly.

He was going to break his promise to his late sister, Gina.

She had made him promise that Abby wasnt going to ever learn who her biological father was because she knew he had never accept Abby.

And because he never loved Gina. What they had was just a fling, no strings attached. It was Gina who did all the loving and crushing.

And when she finally got pregnant, she didnt want him to know because she knew he was going to deny the pregnancy, not because he wanted to but because of his future and his family.

So she hid the pregnancy for him and unfortunately but thankfully, their parents chased her out of the house to go live with their grandmother in the village.

So Abby’s father never knew she was pregnant then. She only returned to Enugu when she was due for delivering and when she was about delivering Abby, she died.

And then his parents refused to accept Abby and that had made him run away to Lagos.
And fate made him meet Abby’s father in Lagos after about nine years.
‘Abby please stop crying, you are hurting me’ Gilbert said.
‘uncle look at you. Where is your left ear, oh my God!’
Gilbert chuckled painfully as he struggled to sit opposite Abby. Then he left go of the mop-turn-crutch and placed his left hand on Abby’s hand.
‘my lovely niece’
‘uncle’ Abby said crying.
‘please dont cry my dear,’ he said wiping her tears with his left hand ‘dont spoil your beautiful face. Dont cry for me’
‘uncle…..you….you are suffering’
‘i deserve it my dear. I’m a killer, i killed many people my darling. Even if its not something to be proud of, i dont regret it one bit’
‘uncle…..’
‘shh….i have something to confess to you Abby. I think they are going to kill me and even if they dont, i’m going to spend the rest of my life here.

Its high time you know who you truly are. Its high time you know your maternal and paternal grandparents……and your biological father. I might not know much about your father but i know someone who does’

Abby frowned ‘who then is my father?’
‘your father is………’
