‘Yes, I guess so. And you are right, I need to finish what I had started. Give me a couple of days. I’ll let you know when my tickets are booked.’

It was not easy convincing her mother about her departure, but with some persuasion she relented. Snigdha left for Delhi within next few days. Delhi was still cold and rainy, with the last of the January chills affecting the whole city.

The gray and dreary weather somehow reflected Snigdha’s mood, but she strengthened her resolve to push any depressive thoughts behind, and start work as soon as she was back.

Watching the logged footage, Snigdha relived each moment spent in Kashmir once again.

Watching footage of Roshan, made her quiver inside, her heart beating fast. And suddenly, she felt she could now start her script for the final editing of the film. Her nimble fingers flowed on the keyboard, words flowed out of her mind, dipped in emotion and feelings, that turned her narrative into a highly emotionally charged script which she knew would make hearts cry, and strongest people shudder. She brought the flames of the paradise called Kashmir alive through her words which talked of real stories, harrowing tales and nerve wracking completely alive experiences. When she started editing the film, with Dimple’s anchor links and evocative visuals, and the heart touching narrative, the entire office at Triple Eye stood behind her to see the story unfurl in the most beautiful documentary ever made. Snigdha felt as if she was indeed living each moment.

That night, Snigdha slept very peacefully, without any nightmares, as if she had exorcised the demons inside her. She held the warm pillow and breathed evenly, while closing her eyes, and going into deep slumber.

The next day dawned fresh and bright, sun making the Delhi weather better after a series of winter showers. For a fleeting second, Snigdha thought of Roshan and the biting cold he must be feeling in Kashmir, but she pushed that thought away and tried to recall his mischievous smiling face, making her feel instantly better.

Next weekend, Snigdha was invited for the screening of her film, Flames of Paradise, at the India Habitat Center, which Triple Eye had organised. Eminent people were invited in the function, which was to have the screening, a panel discussion followed by a formal dinner party. Snigdha had decided to wear a long, high neck slim fitting silk peacock blue kurta, slit high, teemed with straight line palazzos, silky and smooth around her ankles clad in high heeled shoes. She decided to leave her hair loose, the cascade shimmering at her back. A gold smooth s--d adorned her ears. A dash of soft flowery fragrance at her throat completed her preparation before Dimple and Nitin came to pick her up.
‘Wow Sidhi. You are looking so hot!’ Dimple complimented her, hugging her.
‘So are you Dimple, as usual.’ Snigdha observed that Dimple looked extra beautiful tonight, with her new found love making her literally glow. She was wearing an off white and gold dress, with a fitting bodice and flowy, shimmery skirt which reached just below her knees, making her curvaceous body, look stunning. She could judge by Nitin’s proud smile and possessive hand on her waist that she had been successful in making a great impression.

They left for the venue in Nitin’s silver sedan. It was a glittery evening, with a lot of who’s who of media and political circles spotting the carpeted banquet hall. After a short cocktail, the event started. The documentaryFlames of Paradise, was watched with bated breath, in pin-drop silence and an earth shattering applause awaited the ending, making Snigdha’s heart swell with pride and happiness. The evening thereafter passed like a dream. The question and answer session was full of energy, enthusiasm and animated discussions. Media covered it. Politicians appreciated her effort to expose the truth by putting her life in danger. She was congratulated for her daredevil venture and was named a ‘braveheart’.

Feeling light with so much praise and appreciation, Snigdha, after a couple of hours extricated herself from a group of lofty gentlemen from high-fly political and corporate circles, and walked towards where Dimple and Nitin were standing in a group. Just as she reached the group, someone said loudly,
‘Switch on the news. Roshan Khan is on TV. He has been rescued.’
