Lola had just finished bathing her baby, she shifted the big bathing bowl aside to make passage for her to pass.

Her mummy was around and the old woman had been taking good care of her since her arrival.

Lola held little Dara for some minute and was lost in thought. She had caught wind of Awesome’s relationship with Amaka, and it hurts her greatly.
Even though, she had not seen Amaka, she felt threaten by her.
‘Lola! Lola!!’ Her mummy called out and jolted her to life. ‘What are you thinking about? Dara’s father?’
‘Mummy, it’s not like that, but I really do want him, I know at first, it was a mere attraction, but now I can’t control it’
‘Ever thought of a disastrous marriage? A marriage filled with unhappiness? I know you want him, and you can’t wait for him to be your husband, but you know, life don’t hand our desires to us, most time, you have to let go of some feeling for certain reasons’ Her mummy advised.
‘But, why?’
‘Don’t try to seek the why’s, fingers are not equal and would never be equal’
Lola was stunned at the way her mummy was taking the whole thing like a professional therapist.
‘Some feelings could be a liability or burden, at such, you have to relieve yourself and you’ll be amazed at the peace that would overshadow you, I know it can be painful, but you haven’t been yourself for quite some time now and it bothers me a lot’
‘Mum, what do you suggest?’
‘Well, I want you to know that two people’s happiness are resting on your decision, and I won’t make that decision for you’
‘What about Dara? Even if I let go of Awesome, no one would want to marry someone with a child’
‘And you think the father couldn’t take care of her daughter….it’s up to you!’ Mama said and left the bedroom.

‘We need to talk’ She said, as she unstrapped her baby from her back and entered the spacious living room.
‘Not another song about putting a ring on it, I don’t think I could endure it, I’m going through a lot right now’ Awesome said, sitting up on the couch.

Lola stared at him amusingly, he was a shadow of his former self, but yet, his manly feature and charms were well-pronounced.

Whatever he was going through must have really eaten deep into him as he kept a sad face.
The change in him was so obvious, it was as though someone had touched a sensitive part in him. He looked exhausted, and probably was.

Lola decided to take pity on him and bring back his killer smile, through any means whatsoever.

The room looked darker without it.
‘I never came for that,I’m here for something directly opposite’ She stopped ‘I want out, I know I’ve been desperate and I’ve acted rather impulsively and it won’t happen again, you can go ahead and marry anyone you like, you have my blessings’ Lola said genuinely.

Awesome gazed into her face, he saw something intense there, and smiled with a genuine warmth she had never seen before and that took her breath away.

She meant it. Beneath her desperate, bitchy exterior,he saw sincerity.deep feeling.selflessness, and it surprised and intrigued him.

She was truly incredible for letting what they had in the past slide, just for his happiness. He knew the feelings,emotions and desires she had for him might not entirely vanish, but he was certain, it was selfless desires, the desires that make you seek the best for your partner at all cost, the desires that might not be fulfilled, but can’t be quenched, the desires that breed peacefulness, the desires that is permanently secured in your heart.
‘Why would you do that?’ Awesome asked.
‘Well,I don’t wanna be that person that thinks of me, me, and me, you know other people are every bit as special as I am, and deserves as much as I do’ She said.’So, when do I meet the lady?’
‘Well, I don’t think she would want to see me right now, we had a little misunderstanding three days ago, and she didn’t communicate with me since then’ Awesome narrated.
‘What happened?’
Awesome spilled out everything that transpired between Ama and him, without hiding any.
‘Oh, piece of cake! I will help talk to her, as a lady, and I need your help’
‘Go ahead!’
‘Promise me you would do it’
‘Anything’ He said and held her hand
‘You know Dara—- I love and admire my baby a lot, but……..’

‘As you begin to move on, she could be a burden, she might drag you down, I understand, and what makes you think I would let my first daughter out of sight?’

Dara sat on the floor crawling and playing with Awesome’s trouser in an appealing manner.
‘Are you serious?’
‘Never been more serious, Dara would live with me, and you can come and visit her anytime, anyday’ Awesome assured.
‘Thank you!’ She said and held his gaze for a second.

Awesome slanted his head towards her, and let his soft, warm lips slowly glided over her, hotter, then firmer.

Lola closed her eyes as heat rushed through her entire body. Everything else in the world was dim compared to what was happening to her.

She wanted that moment to last for ever, She kissed him back and enjoyed the heady smell of mint, the heat of his mouth and his musky aftershave. Just when she felt nothing could be as pleasurable in the world, His kiss deapened.

This was a different type of kiss, a kiss to end all they had shared in the past, a kiss to signalled the end of everything. A mutual ending.

Lola broke the kiss slowly and stared at him for some minutes.

They were now free to explore other people without pang of guilts and gnaws.

‘So let’s pull the lady from her mystery, shall we?’ Lola said.
‘As you please!’ Awesome left the room and took his car keys and left.

Dara, who was busy with the wires from the socket, crawled to her mummy and looked onto her helplessly, as if pleading for her to carry her.

Lola smiled and lifted her up, They left the house.
