Mummy: My dear, listen to me, I am your mother and I cannot deceive you. What you see as weakness in me is actually my strength. It is called humility, it is called submission, it is called wisdom, and it is called sacrifice! Because I am weak my husband is strong for me, because I am submissive my husband your father is protective, because I am humble my husband is proud, because I sacrifice, my husband provides for me!

And in my wisdom I have been able to keep my home for twenty five years peacefully.

Doris: Mummy most men do not appreciate that from us! They don’t!

Mummy: Have you even tried? You are barely married for one month and with this your mind set, I foresee trouble in no distant time. Why are you so bitter Child? Did you experience a sour relationship before marriage? Marriage is a totally different ball game from courtship.

Doris: Mummy I love my husband, I love him so much that it scares me he might take me for a ride if he finds out how much I love him.

Mummy: My daughter the mistake most women make is assuming the role of loving their husbands! When you love someone you want to protect him, you can deny yourself for his sake, you care for him, you make sure he or she is happy and contented (Doris interrupts)
Doris: Mummy that is exactly the way I feel towards Charles but he seems not to want to reason with me on issues
Mummy: You got it wrong Doris! You are so wrong! These attributes I listed should not come from you! It should come from your husband!

All your husband need from you is RESPECT!

(Spells R.E.S.P.E.C.T) that’s all! The Holy book did not say women should love their husbands! It states in Ephesians Chapter 5:22-23 “Wives, submit your selves to your husbands as you do the Lord, for the husband is the head of the Wife as Christ is the head of the Church, his body of which he is the head, now as the Church submits to Christ so also Wives should submit to their husband in everything

(Emphasizes “Everything”). The Bible went ahead in verse 25 and states” Husbands, love your Wives, just as Christ loved the Church and gave himself up for her. Verse 28 says “In this same way husbands ought to love their Wives as their own bodies, after all no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body just as Christ does the Church” finally verse 33 says “however each one of you must love his Wife as he loves himself and the wife must respect (Emphasizes “Respect”)

To submit is to be humble, to respect, to revere, to appreciate, to hold in high esteem. When a man sees that you so honour him, he will love you endlessly because he would not want to lose that honour from you. The type of love you are professing you have for your husband is like wanting to take over his role in the House! A sane man will resist it with all his might except that Man is not worth the name.

Doris: mummy I am confused! I am so, so confused, I need a glass of water (She stands up and proceeds to the kitchen as light fades)
