The next thing i heard was

VOICE: who want to bring down the gate?

The voice was just too scary, it sounded like a barking dog but more like a roaring lion. I froze immediately i heard the voice. Any one that has that voice must be a devil incarnate. But what have i done to receive such a bark from that man or animal; a gentle knock was termed as bringing down a gate. Even fifty hefty men cannot break this gate.

The gate opened and a big black man walked out and closed the gate before turning to face me. The figure standing in front of me almost made me wet my trouser. He was a giant; his dark colour will be termed as darkest black as it shone in the sun, though, he was properly dressed.

MAN: who are you looking for? **he asked with his baritone voice**

ME: i am……looking for the owner of this address **i stammered**

I brought out my phone and showed him the address on my phone. He stared at the phone and looked back at me. He repeated it for sometimes which made me uneasy

MAN: Are you sure of this address?

ME: yes sir

MAN: but madam ordered me not to let anybody in because, she just returned from a long trip and needed rest

ME: when she see me, she won’t do you anything

MAN: i am letting you in because you are a fine boy, but note that i am risking my job
I walked into the spacious house; my view couldn’t reach the end of the compound. The main house was a two storey building while a duplex and a story building flanked the main house. The flowers that decorated the compound were too beautiful and fresh. The material that was used on the floor was reflecting. The compound entirely looked like a paradise

The gate man led me through some decorated flowers to my mother. She was seated on a chair under the shade of a tall flower. Immediately i saw her, i remembered her despite the fact that i couldn’t recognise her very well but i knew that she will not be able to recognise me with the fact that my face cap was covering my face

ME: good after noon ma

MUM: afternoon, how may i help you? **she asked staring at me**

I laughed within my heart but not laugh of happiness but that of sadness. I couldn’t believe that my mother will not be able to recognise me. I was trying to loss it emotionally but i managed to control it for the time been

ME: i was just travelling and i found myself here **i replied smiling**

MUM: **frowned** what are you trying to insinuate?

ME: maybe it will be of interest if you follow me to see what i get for you
She stared at me suspiciously and looked back to the gate man who was looking like a man that lost everything on earth.

MUM: let’s go but if it turn out to be a prank, you won’t like what will happen for you **she threatened**

A prank? Maybe she don’t even know that what i had in stock for her was even more than a prank. We made our to the taxi which was parked outside the gate. The driver dropped my luggage and i paid him extra money for his time wasted

ME: i think we need to enter the compound before i give you what was asked of me

MUM: young man, don’t do anything funny. Walking me up and down? it is better your message is genuine or else….. Help him with this bags **he referred to the gate man**

We entered the compound, immediately the gate was locked

MUM: you can go on, you don’t have all days for your messages

ME: **smiling** hello mum

My mum remove the glass she was putting on as her jaw drop and her mouth was left wide opened. The surprise on the gate man’s face was disgusting as it made him look uglier.

MUM: Ben?

ME: yes mum

The next thing i saw was her body on mine as we engaged in very tight emotional hug. The tears that i have been controlling began to well down my chick. The feeling that i have meeting my mum after many years cannot be described

MUM: i am sorry i couldn’t recognise you **she apologised amidst tears**

This one that my mum couldn’t recognise me; though i was in disguise, that means that my father could not even know me and that of my siblings will be worst as we never met

ME: i understand

We disengaged as i looked at my mother’s face; she looked younger and was even more beautiful than i know.

MUM: take the bag into the house, john
So the gate man’s name was John. I thought that his name would either be Musa, Ademu or Ahmed as they are the most names of gate men. I hold my mum around her hip while her hand ran across my neck despite the fact that i was taller than her

MUM: but your stunt was very well executed

ME: **smiling** wanted to surprise you

MUM: was engross in the thought of meeting you that i even forgot you are on the way

ME: i felt the same. You look more beautiful mum

MUM: really, i thought that i am even getting old **laughing**

ME: you are really funny mum. Do you know that you could even compete in beauty pageant with all this young girls and still win?

MUM: don’t tell me that you have change into a flatterer?

ME: no mum, saying the truth

MUM: but you have really changed, very strong and you look just like your dad

ME: really, i never knew him

ME: yeah, he will come home soon

ME; okay but why is it that all these cameras are not working?

MUM: they are all working only that the person that control the system was with your dad though everything is on record. But he will return with your dad, the gate was actually automatic but can be controlled by only your father and the system operator though the key to the room was with them **she explained**
