Must Read: INTERMISSION (The Love) - Season 1 - Episode 27

I was watching a news the following day when a call came in. The call was from an unknown number; i take a critical look at the number and saw that it was a foreign number. My mum’s number was saved and my dad’s? “Deleted” yeah! That was him. I allowed the call to ring out, and he called three more times before he stopped
One hour or so, my mum called me
ME: good morning mum
MUM: morning. What happened to you?
Ha! This one that my mum was so direct like this was quiet unusual, maybe something is wrong
ME: i got an accident mum
MUM: how does it happened? **she asked with a frightened voice**
ME: i was visiting somebody with one of my friends when we got hit by a car
MUM: what happened to you? Are you injured? **she asked simultaneously**
ME: i got an injury and it was serious
MUM: oh my God! Where..i mean, what part of your body?
ME: only my leg
MUM: i will call your uncle to take you to a teaching hospital for real treatment
Only if she knew that the person she called my uncle was turning her son to his prisoner
ME: you don’t have to worry; the family doctor is taking good care of me
MUM: are you sure?
ME: yes ma
MUM: and what about your friend, is his injury too much?
ME: no, just a dislocated arm
MUM: thank god, what about your uncle, what is your problem with him?
ME: the man is always on my nerves mum, acting as if i was kept in his prison, trying to monitor every of my movement. I just got pissed off
MUM: he called to report to your dad that you are becoming rude, your dad is currently angry with you most especially after you refused to pick his call. He was actually planning on changing your house to a fenced house with a gate man to restrict your movement and avoid anybody visiting you
ME: what? You won’t allow him to do that to me mum
I never expected that the man will have such an idea. I thought that it was what i can face not knowing that the man already had his plan. That will cost me a lot; not allowing me to visit anybody, that will not be much problem because my visit was usually occasional but not allowing my friends to visit me will really drive me crazy, moreover, i don’t have i genuine complain to give them since we will be seeing at school
MUM: he is yet to come to any conclusion but i will try to convince him to let the sleeping dog lies
ME: okay, that will be better
I breathed a sigh of relieve for the time been because i know that the man could sometime do his things anyway he like without listening to his wife. I prayed that God will kindly see me through this
ME: what of Ken?
MUM: he went out for shopping with his sisters
We discussed about other thing before she finally quit the call.

I haven’t heard from Tracy since when we left their place the previous day. I was angry that she couldn’t even call to check on me; i decided not to call her but my mind cannot be at rest. So, i picked my phone and dialled her number, but unfortunately, her number was not reachable. I dialled the number for many more time but the number still says the same thing, i become really worried.
The doctor also come and goes and i was left with frank who came late in the afternoon
ME: boy, did you know that Tracy has not called since yesterday?
FRANK: then you call her to know watsupp, maybe she has another problem **he suggested**
ME: i called her but her number was not reachable
FRANK: that is what i was telling you. You don’t have to blame her
ME: i am even confused
I was still talking when my phone began to ring. I was relieved when i saw that it was her
ME: hello babe
TRACY: good day
ME: how you, you don’t even call to ask of me
TRACY: i am very sorry; i just got hit by a blow
ME: what do you mean “hit by a blow”
TRACY: i was called yesterday, immediately you left that my father was critically ill
ME: eeh… eeh.. **Frank stared at me**
TRACY: yes, i have to leave for village in a hurry yesterday that i couldn’t call to inform you
ME: okay how is he now?
TRACY: the man is not improving at all. He went into coma this morning
ME: what? And what are the doctors saying
TRACY: they said that he will require divine intervention to succeed **i could notice sob in her voice**
ME: are they giving him treatment now?
TRACY: yes. They are requesting for some money and my mother has to borrow some money from her friends in the village because my father has spent all his money in the hospital. But the money my mother could be able to raise was not enough and the doctors are saying that no more treatment without payment
ME: and what are you going to do now
TRACY: i don’t know, i am really confused
ME: why doesn’t your mother ask her friends to help her complete the money?
TRACY: you know this is village, the little money they had was what they have given her, they don’t have plenty.
ME: and what are you going to do now? You know that you can’t leave your dad to die just like that
TRACY: that was why i decided to call you
ME: how? **confused**
TRACY: for you to help me with any amount you can
ME: and how do you know that i have money
TRACY: i know you have. Please don’t let my dad to die; you are the last hope i have **she sobbed**
ME: **silent for some seconds** okay, how much do you need
TRACY: the doctor is requesting for over N100,00 but if you could be able to give me…**she stooped**
ME: talk now
TRACY: 70k
ME: what?
